Question about parking at OKW

Stayed at VWL in October, did online check-in and received the parking permit with my name on it at the guard shack as well.

However, when we returned home from the parks, they always wanted to see the room key, despite the parking permit. Though they never really checked the key, I doubt that they would be able to read it from about 2 meters away as fast as they looked at it.

That's common for all DVC resorts and Disney resorts. Probably less common at the stand alone DVC's like OKW and SSR, but we've always had to show a key at the others even with our parking pass.

This past October we stayed at OKW and AKV. At OKW they gave us our parking pass at check in and never asked to show our room key at the guard shack.

At AKV they gave us our parking pass at the guard shack and asked for our room key every time.

I have gotten parking passes from the guards at OKW, SSR, and AKL.

or (as he bites his tongue) leave your car parked at the HH area. As long as your not parked in a time limited zone you should be ok as long as the parking permit is in the window. You can then catch the bus at the HH.

Please do not encourage this, parking is at a premium in this area and the guests staying at those buildings really need an extra spaces.

I don't think this is correct. In all the years we have been going to OKW, the only place to get a parking pass is at check in.

We stayed at OKW many times and never got the parking pass at the guard shack either. The resorts others mentioned where they got the pass from the guard are more popular resorts with faster access to the parks. Maybe they actually check to see if cars have parking passes.

Weird. We've always gotten our parking pass at the guard shack at OKW. In 10 years, we've only stayed somewhere else one time, so I know I'm not confusing it with another resort. Maybe it has something to do with the time that you're checking in? We tend to arrive very late, sometimes after midnight.

Maybe it has something to do with the time that you're checking in? We tend to arrive very late, sometimes after midnight.

Come to think of it, we never had to ask since we always arrived in the afternoon and went straight to check in.
