I am arriving in Orlando on Friday, November 20, staying offsite for one night. I am checking in at OKW on Saturday, November 21. The Magic Kingdom opens that morning at 8:00. I would like to drive over to OKW, park my car and get on the bus to the Magic Kingdom, and then come back in the afternoon and do the actual check-in.

Until I check in in the afternoon, I won't have the parking paper that you stick on your dashboard. Will it be okay to leave my car in the parking lot without the parking paper for a few hours until I take a break from the park and come back later to check in?

Thanks!

You should get your parking pass at the guard shack on the way in to the resort.

You can check in when you arrive, and you'll get your parking permit. Your room doesn't have to be ready for you to check in.

Also, you might want to check your dates -- Nov 21 is a Sunday.

You may check in before you go to the park if you wish. You won't get your room yet but the check in process will be done and you will get your parking pass at the same time.

Ha! Yes, Sunday. I am calendar challenged -- always have been...plus I was talking on the phone while I was typing my original post and slightly distracted. I'm checking in on Sunday the 21st.

I didn't know you could get a parking pass at the guard station. Good to know. I will probably do that. I'm just not sure how three of us can get up, get ready, get over to OKW, actually check in, and be on a bus by 7:30. That's probably pushing it for us.

Thanks for the information.

I've never gotten a parking pass from the guard station (never tried, didn't know we could), but at that time of the morning (on the APPROPRIATE DATE!!!), you should be able to check in very quickly at OKW. The checkin time would probably be less than the wait time for a bus, unless you just got lucky.

I don't think this is correct. In all the years we have been going to OKW, the only place to get a parking pass is at check in.

The only time we have been given our parking pass at the Guard shack is when we stayed concierge.

I have never gotten it staying with DVC except at check in.

Alright...well, I will TRY to check in before we go to the park. I had never heard of getting a parking pass at the guard station either. Despite the fact that I can't seem to follow a calendar :confused3, I pride myself on being a rule follower, so I'll do whatever I need to do. If we're running late, we'll just drive over to the Magic Kingdom.

Thank you all again.

We haven't stayed at OKW for a while but we have received parking passes from the BWV guard shack the last several visits. The guard gives it to us when we show our ID on arrival.

In the past year I've received parking passes at the guard stations for both BWV and in Oct for BCV. They also have wanted to give me another one at check in. For BCV I did online check in but not at BWV so that didn't seem to be the difference but you might want to do online check in OP.

Do online check in and it will only take you minutes to check in.

Literally someone could drop you off at the HH and by the time they park and get to the bus station you should be finished.

I agree, that online check in at that time of the morning would be super fast....

And.. the last few trips we have gotten parking passes at the Guard House, but I think those trips were all BWV

Yes we got a parking pass at the BW guard shack and it wasn't until we left 6 days later that I noticed it was only good for that day. Luckily it obviously didn't matter since the car was still where we parked it before checking in. I dom't expect to stay there again but if I ever do will be sure to get a new pass at check in just in case. We parked in the self park over by the valet section which was pretty empty most of the time so I guess they had no reason to be checking the dates on the passes.

We have ALWAYS gotten parking passes at the guard station. That includes BWV, BCV, WLV, AKV and BLT ever since becoming a member 5 years ago. We pull up and tell the guard we are checking in and they go inside and bring out a parking pass that is ALREADY pre-printed with my name and dates. We just returned 2 days ago and this was at both BLT and BCV. It's important that you stop and tell the guard that you're checking in because your pass is already there waiting for you. And as other's mentioned, they will also offer you one at checkin.

Sometimes we get our parking pass at the guard shack, sometimes not. This past trip (a couple of weeks ago), we got our pass at the guard shack at all four resorts we checked into (AKV for 3 nights, BLT for 3 nights, BWV for 8 nights and OKW for one night).

Yea, a lot of moving. It was supposed to be only BLT & BWV but decided to go down early since we got AKV concierge. Then friends who drove decided to stay an extra night since my flight didn't leave until very late thus the OKW stay. Each time, though we got our parking pass at the guard shack. What's cool is not only is your keycard gold for concierge but also your parkinng pass!

That was going to be my suggestion as well. Do online check in, and you will literally be done in 2 minutes. It will take another 2 minutes to park your car at the building you will be staying in, and then you can take the bus from there.

or (as he bites his tongue) leave your car parked at the HH area. As long as your not parked in a time limited zone you should be ok as long as the parking permit is in the window. You can then catch the bus at the HH.

I really hate to see people doing that. It's crowded enough in the HH as is. If you ask, they will tell you which building you are going to be in, so parking outside your own building is never an issue.
