I was just finding myself thinking about my upcoming trip To Universal in October, and realized I didn't know how Universal handles a situation I could possibly see happening.

Since I'm going in October, Between a night drinking around HHN, or hitting up Citywalk for a night of fun (or both), There is a legitimate chance I could end up having enough to drink that driving back to my resort wouldn't be the smartest thing to do (or maybe even legal).

so since I usually drive to the parks, How does Universal handle a car that may be left overnight in the Garage? I'd definately come back to get it the next day if I ended up deciding to Cab it home instead of driving.

I know I've heard that Disney (in regards to similar questions about post-Food and Wine situations) will make note a car left overnight and won't usually do anything as long as it's not left overnight 2 nights in a row, but I don't think I've ever seen the question asked or mentioned about Universal's policies in this situation. Would anyone know?

i don't have an answer for you Mr Tall.

i do know that cars that left overnight in the garage are towed.

i'm thinking if you called guest services, they could give you the number that handles the security for the parking garage.
you could call them and find out what their policy would be for overnight parking due to unsafe driving conditions....of the driver....

perhaps you could call one of the hotels and ask if they allow overnight parking if you pay them the regular hotel parking fee?

I'm almost 100% sure there is no overnight parking in the garages...not sure about the hotels but you would need to check directly with them. Sounds like if might just be easier if you took a cab to HHN and then you won't have to worry about parking.

contact mears shuttle for late night hours for the UO hard ticket events.

2 years ago october, a homie i was hanging with at hhn used the mears shuttle to get back to disney.

he said the last shuttle out was at 2:15 am that night.

for $38 rt, that might work for you.

i almost forgot about that until Metro stated take a taxi both ways.

If you find out, post back, I'd like to know in case I end up in the same situation! Thanks!

I just shot a question to Universal via their website to see if I could get an answer. I'll let everyone know what they say when they reply.

I just received a call back from Universal Guest Services about my question. (Wow! That was quick!).

The answer I got was that they actually have about a 2day grace period before they start towing vehicles. As I kind of expected, They kind of expect issues where Citywalk guests become too intoxicated to drive and leave vehicles there overnight, so that's why they wait 2 days before calling the tow trucks.

If a situation arises and you aren't able to make it back in about 2 days, you can apparently also call Guest Services and explain the situation and they'll help you work with security in informing them, and they can work with you to help avoid getting towed.

You can leave it overnight. Some time people lose their keys, just can't drive home because of drinking or the car won't start . It happens quite often. Stop by guest services at Citywalk and tell them where you are parked and just to give a heads-up for security who patrols the parking lot. If you aren't sure where you are parked, just stick a note on the windshield say "Lost my keys--will be back tomorrow" (with the date) or "Car won't start--will be back tomorrow morning". Or you can use the security call-phones that are located on those poles in the parking garage and let them know. Overnight parking isn't a problem; several days, would be a problem.

**Oops was typing my reply when DCTall was responding.**

I emailed guest services about a month ago and someone called me back within 5 minutes. It was very impressive!

I did not read this zombie thread so don't know what advice was already given

Cars are towed if left in the garage overnight
Probably starts hours after parks and city walk which closes at 2 am

Maybe around 3:30 am?

If a person is drunk and takes a taxi home or lose their car keys, etc
They shoul let any TM know the situation
Need to give info on the car and parking location and the car will not be towed

People do lose car keys and do report it to guest services
Those cars won't be towed that night

Also those drinking at city walk and not able to drive home also will get a pass on their car not be towed

So this should be the same policy in the zombie thread as some policies are made with common sense by UO
Get two days to get your car from the garage as long as you made contact with the TM
