Question about park tickets with a race?

I am getting ready to register for the EEC. You get a one day ticket with registration. How does it work with adding on to this ticket or adding Hoppers? We were thinking about trying to earn a give a day get a day ticket, could we combine the two?

Some have said that they were not allowed to use thier passes to add on to what they wanted. We were allowed to apply our passes last year (form Expedition Everest) to renew our annual passes. It my actually vary from CM to CM, but we were very pleased to be able to do this.
As far as combining give a day, get a day...I'm not sure about this.
