We are going to be at the parks 7 days, 4 days we are just one park but the other 3 it would be nice to hop since our plans are done at noon or so. So my question is

1. Can we use the 4 days of tickets, then upgrade the last three to park hopper?

2. Can you park hop by using another days entrance. I.e. 9 day ticket use 2 days to park hop

3. Or do we just need to buy it for all 7 days

I tried reading the sticky but it was way confusing. Sorry if it’s an obvious answer I missed!

1. Yes, but, it will cost the same as if you bought it for all 7 days on the ticket.
2. Nope.
3. Yup.
4. I feel like such a failure.

The only workaround would be to buy a second set of tickets, say 2 days and put them on another MDE, so it's not talking to your MDE account and knowing you've already used a ticket to get into the parks. But if you do that, how much are your really saving over actually buying a parkhopper for all your days?

1. There's no need to keep the second set of tickets "a secret" from your primary MDX.
Disney doesn't prohibit guests who simply want to use multiple SEPARATE tickets in the same day.
2. There is no savings at ALL.
In fact, it would cost MORE to use buy a 2-day ticket and use it on the same
day as using a day on another 7-day ticket. MUCH more.

Buy it at the start, as others have said, it's the same price for 3 days or 7 days. If you have it, you never know when you may want to use it. It gives you that extra flexibility incase plans change.

I was just suggesting it as a work-around.

OP, I don't know how many in your party, but it may make sense for you to buy the Park Hopper. Here are the numbers:

For 1 person, a 7 day ticket is $415. It's $75 more for the Park Hopper. But if you had to buy one separate ticket, it would be at least $104.50 for that ticket. Since the Park Hopper is for all 7 days, it is certainly the better option.
