Question about packing in ziplocs

My trip is two weeks away and I would like to start packing now as I am famous for forgetting important things if I wait till the last minute. I wanted to do this tomorrow as I am off from work for the holiday:cool1: .

I have used ziplocs for packing lots of things, just never clothes before. If I wanted to go ahead and pack clothes in ziplocs now, is it too early? Would the clothes be a wrinkled mess when I go to unpack them in WDW?

What have been your experiences?

Thanks!!

Hi, I always pack a week early. Some t-shirts come out wrinkled but I try to make them as flat and wrinkle free as I can before I squish all the air out. I used to sit on the bags and then zip them closed but now I roll the air out and I think it works better.
Hope this helps!
Jamie

I only packed the boys clothes in the ziplocs and had no problems with wrinkles. I tried to put clothes for both, complete with underwear and socks and label them for the parks. This way DH could pull a bag out and know what went for each day. We'd also bring in a ziploc of a change of clothes in case they got wet in the parks.

I pack a couple weeks ahead of time with no issues. I too do a complete outfit and label it for quick access.

I bought a travel size Downy Wrinkle Release to bring with us. All of my stuff was wrinkled and I packed two days before but didn't use the ziplocs

I do the exact same thing. Daughter in one bag (outfit, underwear, socks) and son's in another. One bag for each day. It's GREAT. I've never had a wrinkling issue. Save's space in packing too!! Also -- we found now we had ziplocks to bring to water parks once they used an out fit or two --which was VERY handy if they decided to change before heading out of the park. Wet-suits in the ziplock for the tote back to the resort...

I recommend ziplock packing to everyone. Airport security must think I"m a wacko though...

For our trip last month, I literally packed a month in advance all in zip lock bags. I'm a little obsessed. I didn't think about them getting wrinkled at the time, but then some ppl. mentioned it on the boards, and I was getting a little worried. Well, I'm happy to say that I had no problems, and I didn't think the clothes were wrinkled at all (I rolled them, if that helps at all.) I think you'd be fine packing 2 weeks in advance. Have a great trip!

sorry to hijack, but why do you ziploc clothes? I ziploc my toiletries to keep from an accidental spill. Never knew to do clothes.

We do clothes in ziplocs for our boys when they go to summer camp - then they just pull out a day's clothes at a time and keep the rest separate and neat until needed - plus it helps keep them dry if and when those summer storms pop up out in the woods - but I too am not sure why it would be needed for packing to stay in a hotel... i'm interested in this, now.

We're leaving in 10 days for our trip, and DW has just asked me this morning to remember to pull in the suitcases from the garage in the next day or two so she can start "thinking about" packing... normally we don't pack until about 3 days before, so I just did a double take at her and kind of chuckled at her.

I have tried Ziplocks for the past 2 trips. Once, I bought some real cheap ones. The next time I bought the more expensive ones. Didn't matter, because both times, somehow air kept getting back into them, and they wouldn't stay totally flat. Our clothes were extremely wrinkled.

I packed our kids clothes in bags months  before our trip. (It was winter here, they weren't going to wear bathing suits or summer outfits...) I thought the clothes were less wrinkly than if I would have just folded them and put them in the suitcases.

It was also really helpful for knowing how many outfits I had in the suitcases. Since I started packing so far in advance, I could just count out the bags instead of double checking shirts, shorts, socks, undies for each kid. I was so glad to find this tip and have used it every time I've had to pack anything since. (Sending the kids to grandmas--one bag playclothes, one pjs, one outfit for the next day)

I've also never used the dresser at a hotel, but did on this trip. Each kid had their own drawer with their baggies of clothes in it and they could pick a bag out of their drawer each day.

I never thought about packing in ziplock bags until I started reading the disboards(I used to just use ziplocks for toiletries.) I've done it for my last 2 trips, and probably always will. It just helps me be so much more organized. I'm able to just throw my DS a bag each morning, and he knows to get dressed and put his dirty underwear/pj's in the bag. At the end of the night when he puts his pj's on he puts his dirty clothes in the ziplock bag for that day. For me it just makes things much easier, and packing back up to leave is basically already done.

I used the kind w/ that device that you drag on the zipper - instead of the kind you snap the zipper together.

I tried this during our last trip and really liked it! I'm definitely doing it again next trip.
For my DDs I put individual outfits in each bag including undies, socks and hair accessories to match each outfit. Was so easy to get them ready in the a.m. for early rope drops! I could even ask my DH to help, usually he's clueless! This time I just told him to grab a labeled bag (I had certain outfits for each park) and get her dressed!
For DH and I I bought the space bags and used those. They take a lot less room in the bags, I just had to be careful not to pack the bags too heavy, one of them is quite large and we just barely made the weight on the return trip! It gave us room in the bag though for light but bulky things like diapers.

I did this on our recent trip. I would put DDs clothes, underwear, socks and hairbows in a ziplock bag (the kind with the slider zipper) and was able to roll the air out. The air stayed out the whole trip. Not only did it save a ton of space, but getting ready was easy each morning. DD is 3, and still kinda messy sometimes so I kept 1 ziplock bag of clothes in my backpack at all times. If she used those closes I could easily replace the clothes by grabbing a new bag. Dh who isn't the best at matching up dd's outfits could get her dressed without mismatching clothes. The other plus side I found to this method was I could tell what was clean and what was dirty easier, and dirty clothes didn't touch clean ones. If it was in a bag it was clean, out of a bag was dirty.

This saved us on space to the point I had to ziploc for coming home to fit everything in! As long as we have "littler ones" I will definately ziploc their clothes. It was soooo quick and easy in the morning to grap a bag. We had outfits that we were wearing to certain parks (I know, I know. let's not go there) so I actually labeled the bag for which day it was being worn.

I don't want to be a downer but the airport took the clothes out and literally jammed them back in the ziploc bags last time I flew.
