Question about package check

We've always stayed onsite, so have always used the "deliver to my hotel" option when purchasing in the parks. I know you can do package check and pick it up at a specified location if you're NOT staying onsite. Can someone please give me the specifics? Is it like staying onsite where you just tell them at any store you're at the DLH and it goes there, or do you have to carry your purchases to a specific location?

TIA!

We usually stay onsite, but our last two visits were one in our RV and then one staying with family. Package delivery (along with EMH) make staying onsite worth every penny IMO.

I can give you 'sorta' specifics because I never actually did the package check, I rented a locker and stored them myself instead. When you buy something you have to carry it yourself to one of 5 locations and they store them there, unless you're purchasing at one of the package check locations. You then have to retrieve them at the end of the day from each place you stored them. So if you store and multiple locations, or park hop and store at locations in both parks, you're going to have to retrieve from multiple places.

I kinda figured it'd be just as easy to rent a locker on the Esplanade, then I wouldn't have to stand in line or fill out paperwork to store or retrieve. I imagine the line can get long at the end of the day at package check. Plus we wouldn't potentially have to rush back to one park at the end of the night because that was where our locker was. We did our shopping in 'batches' of a few locations at a time during the day and took the purchases to the locker and dropped them off. Small purchases, like pins, magnets, or 'toothpick holders', went into our purses or sling packs until we did 'big shopping'. It worked really well!

In addition, you get so used to just popping back to your onsite room to pick up a jacket or change shoes! It was nice to be able to stow jackets and a change of socks/shoes a the locker 'just in case' rather than having to tote them around in a backpack.

Thank you -- that doesn't sound very convenient! I think I'll be renting a locker this year, too!

Package check is at the Newsstand right by the entrance (left side if facing the train station from the turnstiles). There is a window on the side of the Newsstand where packages may be checked. A CM will fill out a form with your name and contact info. You give them the receipt, everything gets stapled together, and the package/s will be held for you until closing. We've done this a few times with no problems. The Newsstand is on the way to the exit anyway, so it wasn't a hassle stopping there to pick up our things.
