Question about owning at multiple resorts

Hopefully I can explain my question clearly. When owning at two resorts I understand the concept of banking and borrowing to maximize the 11 month window. But here is my question:

Let's say you own at BCV and VWL. And let's say your points are 200 BCV and 100 VWL. You're in a current use year and book at BCV for the 200 pts. And you're done for the year. Rather than bank the 100 points for VWL (which you would then have to use next year), can you request at the 7 month mark that the VWL pts (100) be applied to the current UY ressie (already made at 11 months for 200 BCV pts) for the BCV and then bank 100 BCV pts?

Where I'm going with this is that the 100 point contract at VWL might not be enough even with banking and borrowing so if they are not used at the 11th month they would either have to be used at 7 or not at all. So by routing them through a ressie made at 11 months at the 7 month mark you are in effect having the same impact as if you could combine points. Does that make sense?

Loubon,

That's a good idea to insure you get to make your ressie 11 months out and still be able to use the points from your "other" resort. We've got 5 contracts at two resorts. I either do a transfer of points from one contract to another or I make two reservations with the two separate contracts then link them together as one.

Yes, when combining contracts from two different resorts; I need to respect the 7 month booking limitation.... that's usually when I link.

If I can transfer points between contracts for the same resort, then I book at 11 months. I've never had trouble booking at the 7 month window anywhere (BWV, SSR, OKW, VWL) for the summer months.

This can be done, but it's entirely subject to availability. Basically, it's a cancellation followed by a new reservation. The problem is the waitlist. If you cancel, the next person on the list gets that room, not you. You would then go on the waitlist.

Of course you would know this up front, so wouldn't cancel. So bottom line, you can do what you suggest but only if there is still availability for the type of room you already had reserved.

You can't just keep the room and shift the points around. That obviously would be circumventing the 11-month rule. If there's still availability at 7-months, then you simply make the new reservation and cancel the old one. In this instance you're simply making a 7 month non-home resort reservation.
