Question About Outback Steakhouse

I have been really watching what i am eating and have been exercising now for a little over 2 weeks. i really feel so much better. tonight is the first time that I am going to eat out at a restaurant since i have been dieting. I am going to the Outback Steakhouse. I normally eat the Chicken on the Barbe with rice...i was going to substitute the rice for veggies. is that ok?
 
Any little bit will make a difference. You could always just go for a caeser salad with chicken too.

Even if you aren't on WW, you can get an idea of how "good" restaurant food is by looking up the WW points. The fewer the points, the better.

You have to scoll down a bit to find it, but this site lists WW points for many restaurants.

It looks like the entries at the beginning of the list are "healthier options" direct from Outback, including substitutions/special requests. The same information can be found on the Outback website as well.

For the Chicken on the Barbie, they recommend:
* Order with House Salad without cheese and croutons
* Order Jacket or Sweet Potato
* Steamed Vegetables without butter
* Order without butter
* BBQ sauce may be used during preparation

Subbing veggies for rice is always a great idea - more fiber and vitamins!

I am trying to cut down a lot of my carb intake. is it better to have the rice or the veggies?

Veggies for sure - assuming it's an assortment of non-starchy vegetables (i.e. not potatoes!), that will almost certainly contain less carbs than the rice.
 
I did really well last night...i am actually very proud of myself. i had the Chicken on the Barbie (no butter) with the steamed veggies (again...no butter). I had the salad before dinner with no cheese and no croutons and the tangy tomato dressing and i did not eat any of the bread. I am really proud of myself!

:thumbsup2 And I bet it was yummy too! You didn't feel deprived did you? I love that meal at Outback. :woohoo: good job!

Congratulations! What an awesome feeling that must have been, to be totally in control, satisfied, and proud! I am so happy for you! :thumbsup2

That is how I felt after our March trip to WDW, when I stayed on plan the whole time and realized that I didn't have to avoid situations of temptation, I just had to have a gameplan going in.

I hope your experience will make you very confident and happy! :cloud9:
 
I have to say, being able to eat something that tasted really good and i knew was healthy and feeling satisfied afterward really helped me realize that i can do this and I can lose the weight that I want to lose!! Thank you guys!!
