Got a e-mail yesterday after I had made all our 180 day dining selections. It was a link to My Disney Experience and showed our dining, tickets we still have 5 days on and our resort all linked to our new Magic Bands and stated we have until May 13th to customize them. OK, no problem. After I did this I also realized they still had our old Magic Bands as still active and was stating they could be used interchangeably as long as still active. Has this caused any problems having two sets of Magic Bands active? Our current trip and all that goes with it are all linked to our new set and was done automatically. I know this because when I went to the link they sent all of this showed up and seems to be linked correctly.....smjj

It doesn't cause any problems at all. Choose different colors and you'll have more than one choice as to what to wear for each day of your visit. All your MBs will provide the link to your info that's in your MDE account.

We used our two sets interchangeably.

I'm not a technology expert, but I believe the RFID chip in the Magic Band only identifies who you are. All of your reservations are on the Disney system connected to the readers on the rides and hotels.

The info isn't on the bands. It's on the MDE system. The bands link to your MDE. You can have and use multiple MBs.

Sometimes things glitch, and the nature of a glitch is that it can't be predicted. But the MBs are supposed to be interchangeable. And we have used them interchangeably.

They really do work interchangeably. I was skeptical when we each received 5 bands last year for our trip. They just kept coming, over and over again! LOL

Last year my daughter lost hers in DHS. We had to go get another and it was a pain. We needed it to enter Epcot via the boat as well as to use our final FP+ before leaving DHS, otherwise we would have just waited until we got back to our hotel to take care of it. Anyway, are you saying if we each keep an extra on hand like in my purse we could have just pulled it out and used it right away? Or is there set up involved? If this is the case I will definitely travel with an extra old one for each of us this trip, as we still have them.

Yes, if the bands are active on My Disney Experience you can use them all interchangeably. No setup required. There is nothing special about the band itself... it's just a means of accessing your online information (tickets, FastPass+, reservations, parking entitlements, etc).

If you lose one, just use another active band that is matched with that person's tickets, etc.

Great, thanks! I will definitely pack the ones from last year. If one gets lost again, I can just use my phone to reactivate an older one on the MDE App instead of going to Guest Services and waiting (and waiting...)

Since they are already active on your account, there is no reason to reactivate the old ones. They are all there, just waiting to be used.

Unless you actually DEactivated them, that is. But if they are in your possession there's really no reason to do that.

I have every color now, all active, and they work seamlessly.
