The member guide says "One-time use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club Resort reservations can only be used for reservations made as early as 7 months before your check-in date."

So my question IS if I am trying to book something hard to get at 7 months (like VGC or Aulani) and I want to book the reservation online PROMTLY at 8:00 can I buy these points the day before my 7 mo. window opens or when can I get them? Do I buy them online at the time I book or do I have to call MS to get them?? Due to a last minute medical emergency last summer we had to cancel our VGC / Aulani trip (for which we had banked points) and then we had to use up all of those points this year or lose them. We also had to book another trip someplace in order to salvage some of the airfare so we had to dip into next years points to do that too so it put us in the hole with our points.

So we want to try to book the trip again for NEXT summer but now we're 111 points shy of what we had to work with last year. We can shave off a day or two from the trip (3 n vs 4 n at VGC) and we can drop back from an OV to an IV at Aulani (if available) but we're still short a lot of points... We hate to borrow too deep into our next years points and I'm just trying to figure out if we should get some of these one-time use points to cushion the borrowing.:confused3 But I would want to HAVE THEM already when I go to book. I don't want to wait for MS phones to open up since these places can be so hard to get. Follow that?? :rotfl: OR should I just borrow the points and consider the one-time use points for another trip in the future? I was just thinking that $320 for one night at Aulani was probably a pretty good price.

You have to call MS in order to make a reservation that you want to purchase One-Time-Use Vacation Points for.

When I've done this in the past I had to call MS at my 7 month mark to do it all at the same time. I'm not sure if it is the same way now or not though. Glad you will be able to get to Aulani after all. I felt so bad when I saw your post about canceling!

That's a bummer. Guess I will have to borrow DEEPLY and save that plan for another trip. (Can't book it yet - just adding up the points we need & reviewing our options!)

Thx.

Also keep in mind you can only purchase up to 24 One-Time Use Points.

I know - but it's per Use Year I think. I was thinking we could probably buy 24 from this next one then 24 again when the next one hits. Those 48 points would help make up for some of what we'll have to borrow now. But I probably won't do it for this trip as I will definitely want to book online as soon as the window opens. Since I would have to call we might miss out on the chance to grab it.

You can't bank or borrow one time use points, therefore you would only be able to add 24 to the reservation you want to make.

You could book the first x number of days at 8 online and then call to add the last day or 2 on with 1 time use points- as long as a member of that resort didn't jump online to dad a day just before the 7 month window if you take the first few days and the rest are available at 8 they should still be available at 9 when you can add the rest of the days.
