Question about Ohana's

I made a PS at Ohana's for our upcoming trip. I was trying to find a restaurant that we hadn't eaten at previously to make the trip different from past ones. But now I am starting to worry a little. My husband likes meat and potatoes. I think we are fine on the meat side. But for other things to eat, I just see green beans. So I try for another restaurant?

Well, it depends what you're going for. Do you have little kids??? It will be fun for them. Yes, tons of meat and unlimited amount. All very delicious. The sides are served in the middle of the table in a lazy susan type thing. Not "mashed potatoes" as I recall, but a variety of various things. Does DH HAVE to have the "potato" thing at everymeal. If he could go with delicious meat and good fun entertainment for the kids, I think you'd enjoy it. Perhaps he would like a couple of the sides they serve. Dessert is also REALLY good. Pineapple with a delicious caramel dipping sauce. YUM!!! It all depends on if you're husband is willing to "take a chance", considering all the other amenities.

Let me just tell you that I am the pickiest eater ever!!! DH will eat just about anything, but not me. We went to Ohana's for him thinking I would have nothing to eat. WRONG!!! I loved it and we will be going back!!! For appetizers they have chicken wings which were great! I loved the rice, and salad. DH said the wontons were great. I must havehad 3 refills each of the rice and wings!!LOL!! I really enjoyed the steak and pork, though the turkey was good too. DH loved the shrimp. Really fulling and they keep coming back with more! We were in a rush at the end of the dinner b/c DS was having a melt down. So, DH did get to have the pinneapple dessert which he loved.

Definately give it a try. Also, we had a great table by the window with a really nice MK view.

To be honest, I would say that my DH is the same and we would probably not go back unless we had another reason, but we're glad we did it once. We had my neice and nephew with us and they loved the entertainment, and my brother and SIL liked the meal allot. But as far as DH and I go, we would not go just for ourselves.

For "meat and potatoes", try Artist Point, Le Cellier, Grand Floridian Cafe, are our favoites so far. We are trying Liberty Tree Tavern next time, which I hear is another meat and potatoes type meal. I think most of the buffets have them, but I'm not sure, Chef Mickey, and 1900 Park Fair are two good ones we've tried for character meals. I would imagine 50's Prime Time also, but it's been a while since I've eaten there. Hope this helps.

O'hanas is one of our must do's. We ate there just over one month ago. :)

No there aren't potatoes on the menu, but there is PLENTY of meat and there is rice, as mentioned above. We always order chicken strips for our daughter ($5.99 instead of the regular priced meal). The server always offers her some of whatever he has brought over anyway, so this is a good thing to do if you have a picky child along with you. Anyway - they bring her fries with her chicken strips and I'm sure they'd be glad to bring your hubby some fries too! Every server we've ever had at O'hanas has been wonderful and ready to please.

I would also recommend Whispering Canyon and get the skillet for your DH, if you've never eaten there before.

Good luck!

We went to Ohana's last Jan. We loved it. It was my favorite dining experience at WDW and we went everywhere. The food and atmosphere was great. Request a seat by the window. The views are incredible.

I'm a TOTAL meat & potatoes kind of guy (I won't touch anything green) and 'Ohana is my absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. Aside from the meat skewers, I guarantee he'll love those honey chicken wings, and the fried rice ain't bad either.

I guarantee he won't go away hungry! :) Try it, you'll LOVE IT!

Do you think this would be a good first night option... I was a little scared by the menu but feel beter now... We usually do CM but it is Just DBF & I and want something a little more laid back than CM... Plus the fire works from the beac would be great!!!

I think you would love it - we were there this March and had a wonderful dinner. We then watched the fireworks from the beach. It made for a great end to the evening!

This is always our first night meal. We usually do not go into the park on our first day, as it is not a full day. This gives us a little taste of Disney before entering the parks. We usually ride the monorail, eat at 'Ohana, watch Wishes (either while we are eating or from the beach - depending on the time) and watch the Electric Light Parade. We will be there on 5/22 for my "night before my birthday dinner" and will be spending the next day in the MK. Try to request the main room (this is where all the activity is) and a seat by the window.
