Question about Ohanas

If you really want to appreciate Ohana again, just book at Chef Mickeys. To me CM's food was possibly the worst! It will definately make all others seems better.

We stopped going there years ago :sad2:....I agree the food was not good...but I always assumed it's because we dislike buffets.

OK - someone needs to share their Chef Mickey's experience!
We just booked Chef Mickey's today for our November trip - we've never eaten there before, but are actually anxious to try it.

Anyone care to share their CM experience?

Your reservation time should not pose an issue. Having worked in the restaurant business for many years, it shouldn't matter if you're the first or last customer; food and service should remain consistent.

We've been to 'Ohana twice and had good food and service both times. :goodvibes

To the PP: we found Chef Mickey's to be less than desirable. I know I'm in the minority though. We went for dinner; the place was filthy :scared: and food sub par. The character interaction was great though. :upsidedow

We ate at O'hana in 2003 and loved the jumbo grilled shrimp. Went back in 2006 and were greatly disappointed to be served a small platter with cocktail sized shrimp. From recent posts it sounds like they are again serving grilled shrimp off the skewers. Can anyone tell me if they are jumbo sized again? I don't mind having to peel them at all, I think the shells keeps the meat moist.
We are eating there in August and I am hopeful that it will be a similar experience to our first time eating there. Although I know I will miss the pineapple with warm caramel sauce!

We eat at Ohana's everytime we go. We just ate there last friday (5/13). It was the best time we have ever been there. We have never had a bad experience, but this last time the food and service was the best. Did not eat the shrimp. I do not like the hassle.

We've had dinner at Ohana every single trip we've taken, and each time was very good, if not excellent. :thumbsup2

The cocktails there are the best and most unique you'll find among WDW drinks.

Tell the servers how you like your food cooked, and they will try to accommodate you. Want well-done steak? Lightly cooked shrimp? No problem--they'll bring what you ask for.

The bread pudding dessert is seriously one of the best things I've ever tasted.

As long as you don't mind miss seeing the MSEP or Wishes from inside the MK, you'll be fine with a late ADR. :)

we just ate there in January. That and Le Cellier were dh's fave restaurants out of 10 days of DDP.

I thought Ohana's was OK. Some food was delicious - some were just OK. The meat was mostly only OK. we asked for med rare steak and reminded our waiter twice before getting it almost a half hr later.

still, it's a must do because dh loved it so much.

as for CM - the food is OK. It's a buffet - what can u say? some stuff was good some stuff was bad - it was fairly generic - a little better than Golden Corral. (from the perspective of someone who actually enjoys going to Golden Corral). If you like buffets, you'll like CM just fine.

thanks everyone for their opinions. I am planning on booking Ohana for our honeymoon trip and wanted to see what everyone thought about it.

If you are really anxious to try it...honestly I would just do it. Personally, I have read more negative or neutral posts vs positive posts regarding CM. However, that doesn't mean you would not enjoy the experience.

A few years ago, my wife and I want to try Sci Fi dining. Like CMs,we read a number of reviews / posts / comments that were either negative or lackluster. Nonetheless we went anyway and loved it.

So if CMs is a place you really want to try I would just book it and not worry about what others think.
