Question about officiants for 2006...

Hi everyone! I've been reading your boards for a couple of days and have found them really helpful. I still have a question, though, that maybe someone who's already had a Disney wedding can help me with: Does anyone know the rules regarding who can be your wedding officiant?

You see, I just booked an intimate wedding package for Seabreeze Point, but our wedding isn't until 2006 so the officiant isn't included. Aside from that, though, I'm not sure if I want someone who I've never met performing our wedding. So, to make a long story short, my soon to be sister in law recently became an "ordained clergy person." Would she be allowed to perform it, or does someone have to be a state of Florida clergyperson/ notary to perform marriages?

I know it's kind of a strange question, but if anyone could help, I'd be so grateful.

Can I be rude and ask how much does this cost?

Since this part is new to me I am clue less as to how much this cost.

Disney told me an officiant was around $150.

Your sister should be able to do it. My Aunt is a JP and she will be doing my wedding. I'm acutally waiting to hear back from someone else on this board who I think is getting married today by her father who is a JP. If you call the clerks office in Orange County they will sort of be able to tell you if it is ok or not.

Thank you so much for the help everyone. I'm going to give the clerk's office a call to double check. The written law says, "...and any other ordained clergy person..." can perform weddings. So, that's what she falls under. I really hope it works out.
