Question about number of people in party

Hello, my wife and I are taking our 3 1/2 year old daughter for her first trip to Disney World next week. We are heading over from Tampa (just a short drive) on Weds, 9/26. We are doing Magic Kingdom on Thursday, 9/27 and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Friday, 9/28 and heading home on 9/29.

Anyway, I'm just now trying to make some dining reservations (I know, last minute). As you'd expect, there isn't a whole lot available. There were a few places that didn't have any tables for a party of 3, but if I put in party of 2, they have space. My question is what would happen if I show up with reservations for 2, but we have 3?

:welcome: to the disboards.

You need to include everyone in your reservation because of fire and safety code regulations. While extremely unlikely, if the restaurant is at capacity, extra people will turned away.

Th Disney res system has a glitch in it that makes it more difficult to find reservations for odd numbered parties. We're also a party of 3 and have often found more availability when we put in a party of 4.In most cases you'll be seated at a 4 top anyway. We just let the CMs know that there are only 3 of us when we check in at the restaurant.

I dont suggest reserving for fewer people than are actually in your party, And yes, kids of any age count.

If you want to check for further availability, check for a table for 4, as it's much easier to go down in party size than it is to go up.

Yep, as Nala and Kim mention above me, it's much better to check your size +1 if you're odd. If you book for less, there is a chance of that extra one being turned away (it's happened).

For locations with CC holds, this isn't an issue as you will not get charged the fee unless the entire party doesn't show up. For locations with full prepayments, you may have to stick with 3 (though, I've heard adopting an imaginary infant and then leaving her at grandma's at the last minute may work ;)).
