Question about non-spicy food options

So, I grew up on the east coast with lots of more bland tasting food as our stereotypical main foods and I also suffer from acid reflux. The most spicy salsa I can handle is mild and even then I can't eat much of it. We are heading to DL/DCA for the first time and I would like to try new foods but I'm not familiar with the sauces and foods described on the menus to know if they are spicy or not. Can someone tell me what foods/sauces/ingredients at Disney I should stay away from and what foods I can try?

I too am not a spicy fan...everything at DL is pretty dang bland.

Except at Carthay Circle. There were a few dishes that said “spicy” and I figured they were DL spicy but ended up unable to eat

You can ask for the sauces on the side. There aren’t many spicy options from my experience. If they are, they will usually say it in the title.

There are 2 Mexican Restaurants. One at DCA and one at DL. Those could potentially have some mild spice to them as with most Mexican food. But like I mentioned you can get the sauce on the side.

Is there anything spicy at DL? Even the Mexican restaurants all seem really tame.
Good to know! For those of you who like spicy foods that may not be a good thing but I'm happy to hear that. I'm excited to try foods that we don't have around here on the eastern side of the country. Any suggestions of foods that you love that you can't get elsewhere?

I am also a spice wimp. I ordered the salad at the Mexican place in DCA. I’m pretty sure it was the spiced tortilla strips that made it unbearable to eat. It was way to spicy for my blood. The corn chowder at the Market Restaurant in Disneyland had just a little bite to it, but not much. I don’t remember anything else having any sort of kick to it.

Another fan of "not spicy" here! Rule of thumb at DLR: always ask about spice levels, no matter where you eat and what the food is. It can't hurt to ask, but it can hurt if you don't -- file under "lessons learned the hard way." Mexican food can be a no brainer, but other things can sneak up on you. Ask if the sauce/salsa/spicy component can be put on the side. Then you can adjust your food to your taste or just leave the spicy stuff off completely. CMs will be pretty honest with you. I've had CMs tell me that even if the menu doesn't say a dish is spicy, they think it is. So play it safe and ask first!

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely be doing that!

Just remembered another one: Salt & Straw in DTD is generous with their samples, so always ask about spice levels and sample any flavors first to check if your palate is comfortable with the ingredients. For example, one flavor I like is the Strawberry, Balsamic, Black Pepper -- but the ice cream is made in small batches and the flavors can vary from batch to batch. So one day I can be fine with that flavor and another day the pepper can be way too strong. Now, I always ask for a sample first to test the spice/heat. CMs there will answer all questions and give you good descriptions of all flavors and ingredients.

I never thought about ice cream being too spicy! LOL! I will definitely remember that. Thank you!

My daughter wanted to try the Lobster mac and cheese bread bowl at Harbor Galley when we were there a few weeks ago. The server said that it had Sriracha mixed in and offered to give her a sample to try. It was way too spicy for her. Glad we asked ahead of time.
