question about non park hoppers

I'm hoping somebody can help me pretty fast. My family members bought non park hoppers, but they bought more days than they needed. They thought they could use one day for one park and then if they chose to go to another park they would just use up another day. Is this the case? They were told by an employee from a disney store that this isn't possible. We were able to do this years ago when they date stamped the tickets.

Anyone know???

I believe that you can do that. It would count as another day if you don't have the park hopper. I would call Disney to find out, just in case.

They can not visit 2 parks in one day without the hopper. They are not allowed to use extra days, it will not work.

toystorymom is right. The same ticket cannot be used to enter two parks on the same day unless it is a hopper.

OP, your relatives can go to guest relations and have the hopper option added. Not sure if the extra days can be removed, but since the extra days only cost a few dollars each, they shouldn't lose too much money.

If your family wants to go to one park in the morning and a different park in the evening on the same day, they will need to add the park hopper option. For example: if they wanted to go to MK in the morning and Epcot in the evening, they will need a park hopper.

They will not be able to use two days of their non-hopper park pass to go to two different parks in the same day.

Are you sure about this, because I know that in the past they did allow it.

thanks for your help

Definitely. The computer system won't allow you to enter on a ticket already scanned that day (unless you're returning to the same park or you have the hopper).

No, they can't do that. You must have the park hopper option to park hop.

toystorymom is correct. When they try to go through the second park in the same day, the ticket will be rejected and they will be directed to either the ticket window to purchase the park hopper or to the exit. That is how the Magic Your Way tickets are set up.

We learned this the hard way last year. My travel agent had told us to buy 8 days of tickets for 7 days and just use the extra day to park hop on the one day we wanted to park hop. When we did this, we were directed to the window to add the park hopper feature. This was our first time, we had no clue and had all faith in our travel agent...she didn't know the rules either!!!!!!!!! We were very disappointed :-(

Nope - pp's are correct with the base ticket you can enter one park per day and if you want to park hop you need the hopper opton.

Think of the ticket as x # of days rather than x # of visits. You will get a single ticket that entitles you to visit one park per day for x days. Once the ticket is used in the turnstyle at the theme park you can only return to that theme park that day with the base ticket.

There is an excellent FAQ on the theme parks board that addresses hopping and explains things very clearly.

The OP is correct that at one time that was possible. However, since they changed to MYW you must have the hopper option. It was a change several years ago...cannot remember exactly when at the moment.
