my son is 5 yrs old. we go to the track and walk the outside, which is a half mile. we do this on a fairly regular basis. he can ride his bike for 3 miles and he has also walked the track with me for 2 miles. he does NOT get tired and is still rather high strung afterwards. he tends to have ALOT of energy. now that you have all of this information-my question is--do you think i will need a stroller? i am already planning on making belts that connect for the trip so losing him is not an issue! i just figure it may be cheaper to buy a stroller than rent one every day! thank you for your opinions!!!

I bought an umbrella stroller for my then 4 yr old and it will make it third trip to WDW this year. My DS is now 6 and this is the only time we use it. I find we can move faster and more efficiently with DS in the stroller and I also don't have to wonder where he is. He would whine a lot if he had to walk all vacation, but he doesn't ride in it always. It is also a good way to carry items in the park. We have a backpack that I sling over the handles and I can carry our water bottles, snacks, rain coats etc. without having to lug everything.

We walk 2-3 miles a day and daughter rides bike. She can walk it too. At Disney, she did get tried after awhile (maybe the heat). We were glad we took it last year (she was almost 5) We are planning to take it again this year. When she walks, we push it with our backpack. It's also faster to get from place to place without stopping to see everything.

seen so many tired and worn out kids...the heat and humidity can really get to you...I would get the stroller "just in case" cause it is really awful carrying around a hot and tired child when you, yourself are hot and tired...We also used our to hold all of our water and other things we brought....
I laughed when I saw 3 kids (big ones too) crammed into a 2 seater stroller all of them were sleeping and looked like the 3 headed monster! It was very funny...

I have done some research in this dept., believe you me! This is our 4th trip but, DD-3's first. We always rented before, which worked fine in the past, too! But, what convinced me about either 1) renting off-site or, 2) bringing your own was this, you'll have the use of the stroller from exiting the gates, when kids are the most tired and from the car to your hotel door, etc. Think about it! Do you want to carry that child when they're tired or sleeping!? And, what convinced me to bring my own was that we'll have it in the airports as well! Chicago's O'Hare airport is huge and if you have to run anywhere there, or any airport to catch a flight, etc., better to strap them in and "fly", if they do it themselves, come on, no way you're gonna make that flight! (Right?)

I've also never found the absolute perfect umbrella stroller to buy for this without spending upwards of $50-60, so I settled. Got one at Sears.com for $25 which has a canopy (a must), has a big basket, folds up really easy and somewhat small (we all know they don't exactly disappear when folded but, this one's manageable & light, IMHO), only drawback, for me was that it didn't recline! But, after having DD out the past few days and seeing the way she falls asleep in the car seat, heck she'll sleep anywhere, anyhow when she's conked out!

Really, any other questions you might think of, send me a PM or email, all info to send should be there! Have a great trip!

P.S. We leave Sat., 6/2, btw!
