Question about MSG in the Food

In February I'm taking my niece, nephew and son to WDW. My mom will be joining me to help with the kids.

Last time I was there the only dietary concerns were my DH's diabetes. As he's not joining us this is not an issue this time. Unfortunately my mom's dietary issues may be a bit more difficult to prepare for.

She has a severe reaction to MSG and I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not WDW restaurants use it in any of their foods. I know the main food that contains MSG is Oriental (Chinese specifically), which sucks because I want to try some of the food in China and Yak & Yeti.

Does anyone know if these places do use MSG or where I can go to find out?

Thanks so much.

I can't say for 100% certain, but I don't think any of the food I've tried at WDW has MSG in it. I tend to have negative reactions to MSG myself, but have never had such a reaction at WDW.

If you call the Disney Dining Line, they can refer you to the individual restaurants and you can ask.

At the TS restaurants ask them to check with the chef. The chef will tell you if there is any MSG.

By the way the CS restaurant at China Pavilion has MSG in their eggrolls - springrolls. I did not ask first and within 3 minutes of eating just one I was having my MSG reaction.

Not sure about the restaurants but a word of warning, most of the foods in the Japanese shop have MSG. I have problems with MSG myself and have not had any problems in any of the restaurants.

I too have bad reactions to MSG and have never had any problems @ WDW. I had egg rolls at Yak & Yeti and I was fine. I haven't tried the egg rolls at the Chinese Pavillion though.

I have been told by many CM's that WDW does not use MSG in any of their food items. I have a hyper-sensitivity to MSG and must avoid it at all costs. I've never ever had a problem at WDW--even at Kona Cafe, or 'ohana's.
