If you have done this, are you happy with it? Do you have the capability to swivel it? If you have a dvd player how do you have that mounted so you do not have any cords or wires showing? I hate to see cords and wires!;)

Are you happy with your decision to wall mount it vs having it on a TV stand?
Are there any draw backs to consider, other than it will pretty much define how the furniture is arranged?

TC:cool1:

We mounted the TV (flat screen) flush to the wall so it doesn't swivel or anything. All the wires/cords etc.. are in the wall and come out the bottom and feed into a cabinet that holds the cable box/DVD player and other stuff. You can't see any of the wires so it looks very tidy. I love it!!!

Our cords come down the wall under the tv. I don't even pay attention to them so I can't really tell you how it looks.:rolleyes1

We have the TV mounted where the bottom is about a foot or so above a tv stand/cabinet. We have receivers and video game systems on top so I don't really notice the cords at all. When games and movies are put away in the cabinet it all looks nice and tidy enough for us.

I would do it again this way.

ETA: ours doesn't swivel.

We just did this last night. We are happy with it so far. Our almost 1 year old would not stop trying to touch the TV, so this works perfectly. Ours tilts up and down, but not left and right. Right now the wires are hanging down and look ugly, but we are going to run them through the wall so it won't be that way for long. We left our TV stand underneath it. It had doors, so all the components are hidden inside.

Ours is mounted to the wall, tilts but does not swivel. I placed it so eye level is mid screen when sitting on the couch. The wires are outside of the wall, but are 'hidden' in a tube that I split and stuffed the wires into.

We have ours mounted on the wall. It is also eye level with those sitting on the couch--not high on the wall. Ours does not swivel but if we wanted we could adjust the tilt on it. We just leave it as is. We opted not to get the swivel one because we didn't want our boys swiveling it plus the tv is so big I didn't want it moving around a lot.

None of our wires are showing they are in the wall. We put all of our things, dvd, satelite, movies into a closet right behind the wall we mounted the tv too. It used to be the coat closet under the stairs but was deep enough to build some shelves inside. We had to invest in an RF remote to do this but we found one that was reasonable.

We love having all the extra floor space! We now want to do the same in the bedroom but will probably do the swivel wall mount in there.

Both of our TVs downstairs are mounted on the wall. They swivel and tilt. The wires aren't visible. I don't know where they are, lol. All of the VCR/DVR stuff is upstairs in a media closet so there are no boxes down here at all. Very clean looking and neat. I love it!

This is what happened to one of our friends. He had his TV mounted on the wall. His house is new construction. All was well until the wall began to bow with the weight of the TV. He learned that his house was built with metal studs, not wood; that was causing the problem. He had to remove the TV from the wall and place it on a stand.

Oh my!
So he didn't have the house built to see they weren't using wood, correct? He just bought it *new*.

How disappointing would that be?!

Luckily, ours was in the plan so our builder knew what we wanted and where. Of course, I had a great builder who listened well, shopped around and made the whole thing a good experience.

If you do mount your TV I would suggest looking at monoprice.com to buy the bracket. They are about $25-30 compared to $100 or more in the stores. I have used them before and they are great.

Brenda, that's exactly right. He had no idea the house had been built with metal studs.

We have a 59" TV wall mounted..I am not sure ours swivels? Maybe too big?
We have NO wires or cords. The Satellite Receiver, DVD Player etc...are all in the basement. There is a tiny 'eye' that sits on the bottom edge of the TV and that apparantly 'sees' those electronics without any problem. We just point and click the applicable remotes to the TV and voila. Very neat and tidy.:thumbsup2
