question about MNSHHP and MK travel time

Kind of upset with WDW website. It lists the MNSSHP as an additional ticket. In my mind when some is additional it means you add at least 2 things together such as a base ticket and a party ticket. Now I find out we may be able to get into the party as early as 4pm with just the party ticket? That means if we don't go in the daytime, to try to conserve the little one's energy we will have an extra day on our base pass at the end of our stay? Is that for for 14 days? I thought I saw somewhere it was 6 months.
With that we may go to MK for a quick trip in the am , what is a rough estimate of travel time by boat to the kingdom. Thanks.

With a base ticket, they will expire within 14 days of the FIRST day of use of the tickets or the length of your stay.
They do not last up to 6 months.

The only way to avoid this is to purchase the xtra options available.

From Ft dock to MK dock about 10 minutes.

ok feeling better that with a 10 minute ride a few to wait for it we could do a little in the am and then relax and back in the evening. I havent seen this before. Could one of us go, get fastpasses for all of us and then come back during that time? Do each persons tickets have to been passed thru the gates for fastpass kiosk to work?
