Are they transferable? I'm thinking about (attempting to!) get tickets as a surprise for my daughters birthday. But I'd hate to be stuck with them if it turns out we can't go or she loses interest by then. The website says that you have to show the credit card you bought them with and a photo ID to get in; is there a way to transfer them to someone else or are we stuck with them if we can't go?

People from our local coliseum were on the radio discussing this this morning, they said there is no way to transfer them. They even had a caller call in who said she is pregnant and due around the time of the concert, she asked if she was in labor could a friend still take her girls. They told her no, and that she needed to decide now if she or her friend would be taking her girls and buy the tickets with that card, that she could not transfer them later for any reason.

THE card that bought the tickets.. and THE person with the matching government issued ID must be present to enter the concert.

This is why we are not going. Tickets for our local show went on sale for American Express cardholders only yesterday. First of all let me say that by 10:00 am all of the AM EX preferred seating was sold and the regular AM EX presale seats were already in the third tier balcony!!! I feel bad for people who are going to try to get tickets once the presale is over! There isn't going to be anything left.
When I realized that even if I bought those lousy nosebleed seats (still $79.90 a pop during the presale), my sister wouldn't be able to take my child????
I threw in the towel and said we're not buying tickets.

How ridiculous is this??? Their answer is to have the person going buy the tickets with their credit card and then reimburse them? How can I give this as a gift if the person needs to buy it themselves? As far as the presale goes- you really can't get seats unless you buy them during the presale... and my sister doesn't have an American Express card.

We are very disappointed in the whole mess.

I agree it's a pain in the butt - but (no pun intended) this is to prevent scaplers buying huge amounts of tickets so the rest of us either have to buy through them or get stuck without!

We got to many concerts and shows each year, and this is the FIRST and ONLY time I have ever had trouble getting a ticket for a show.
Even calling American Express didn't help. They can't get tickets either... and this has never happened before!

I am thrilled that this concert is paperless. Last time she toured as Hannah Montana no one could get tickets for a decent price thanks to ticket brokers. I think this system is great, but then again, I know that I am the one taking my kids to the show.

Have her keep trying.. all of the good seats are never sold in the pre-sale. The always save sections for general public and than the day or before the tickets even better ones are released.

I am not even bother with the Miley tickets. We are seeing the Jonas Bros in July.

I think there will be a lot of disappointed girls who are looking for "hannah" at this one.

We did go to the Hannah/Miley/Jonas brothers concert.

I decided not to try for tickets this year because of the whole paperless thing. My DH and I always decide at the last minute who is going and that would be an option this time. DD9 saw her when she came through last time (3 rows from the ceiling) so it's not a big deal. I did buy last years tickets-- regular sale, regular price-- but my DH attended the concert with her.

They will sell you "insurance" if you can't make it they will refund the ticket price if you bought the insurance.

how long it's going to take to check ID and CCs of 10,000+ people at a venue? I'm wondering if it's going to end up being random.

After 9/11 we went to a concert that had huge signs everywhere (and on tickets) about having no bags, and that we would be searched. We had a baby bag (as did many others) and we didn't see anyone being searched. :confused3

They are simply going to have you swipe your credit card, if it matches you'll go in - a screen will show the number and your name, and you will flash your drivers license to the ticketing attendent to show it matches the card.

Sort of like self checkin at the airport, but without the need for a boarding pass.

It's not just Miley, folks. Our local Ticketmaster office says that they will be going to this system for ALL sales within a year or so.

It does make sense in order to stop the wipeouts of whole shows by electronic scalpers, but they didn't have to be quite this draconian; a lot of the restrictions are only for the benefit of the ticket retailers.

It would be pretty easy to give out a PIN and to require the person using the tickets to know the pin and the full name of the original purchaser of that particular set, plus the final 4 digits of the cc used to buy it. Combining this with a limit on the number of tickets purchased from a particular computer (except for registered retail ticket offices) ought to do it.

If you think that the purchase system itself is too user-hostile, take a look at what happens when one of the sellers makes a mistake:

I'm glad they are trying to fix the system so that patrons can buy the tickets and not have them all wiped out by brockers, but this puts on the burden and restrictions on the buyers. I wish they would find a better way.

You just have to keep throwing the seats back and trying again. A friend gave me her fanclub passcode and I used it on Monday. The first seats offered were on the first level (above floor) then the next 3 or 4 sets of seats were in the upper balcony. I tried one more time and got seats next to the stage. Each presale has a limited number of tix available so there will still be plenty when the general sale happens.

Thanks for all the feedback. I decided to pass since the concert is over Thanksgiving weekend and I'm not absolutely positive we can go.

Apparently I'm not the only one who's thinking that way: I just got an e-mail today saying that tickets are still available. (They went on sale Saturday morning.)

I asked this on another thread the other day - I wanted tickets but I didn't want to go to the show. I DON'T have to attend but I DO have to show up with my credit card and photo ID and swipe it so my girls and their friends can get in. I'm perfectly willing to do that if it means they have a chance to see their favorite musical acts at fairly priced concerts in our hometown.
