Question About ME & Arrving at Night...

I am just curious what will happen.... We are due to arrive @ MCO at about 10pm and will be using ME. I have read that our luggage will follow within hours after, but by the time we get to the hotel I would imagine my young children will be going to bed. So.... What happens to our luggage? Will a cast member still deliver to our room that late @ night? Or will it be brought the next morning?

Our experience at POP was that they will not deliver it your room after 10:00pm. They will wait until the morning. Or if you are anything like me (crazy person who cannot sleep until my luggage is in my room), you can go and get them yourself once they arrive at your resort. :)

You will want to get your own luggage before going on ME.

Luggage delivery service provided by Disney's Magical Express is available for flights arriving between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 pm, Guests may collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with them on the motorcoach.

Defiinitely handle your own bags. If your flight is delayed in leaving your luggage will arrrive after 10:00 p.m. and you won't get it until the next day.

We always arrive late and always handle our own bags. Just make sure you don't put those yellow tags on your luggage!

Our flight lands at 8:30 pm. I guess we will be at AKL at around 10. Will they still drop our bags off that night since we land before 10 or is the cut off at the resort 10pm?

Well we were there end of Aug and our bags were delivered at 12:30AM... which I pity the poor guy cause my kids were sleeping DH went to the store and I guess he had knocked while I was in the bathroom showering... and all he saw was me in a towel and me letting out a little scream!!LMAO

It depends.

At the Deluxe and Moderate resorts, Bell Services runs 24 hours a day and will deliver bags if they arrive in the middle of the night unless you make arrangements to have them held (and even sometimes if you do). At the Values, Luggage Services close at midnight and in most cases bags arriving after that won't be delivered until morning.

For an 8:30 p.m. arrival, you should be at AKL by 10 and checked in by 10:30, so tagged bags should be delivered to your room by 1 or 1:30 a.m. If you want them delivered that late, just go to your room and wait (or go to bed and hope the knock on the door wakes you up). If you want to use the DME luggage service but don't want your bags delivered in the middle of the night, ask the front desk to notify bell services that you want your bags held AND put your Do Not Disturb sign out on your door in case the message doesn't get through. In the morning you can call as soon as you wake up and your bags should arrive within a few minutes.

If your flight arrives after 10 p.m. (even if it was scheduled to arrive earlier) you have to go to baggage claim, collect your bags and take them to the bus. If you just don't want to wait at your resort for your bags, leave off the DME tags, go to baggage claim, collect your bags and schlepp them to the bus. In both cases the driver will put them under the bus and unload them for you at your resort. A tip of $1-2 per bag is customary if you have the drive stow them under the bus for the trip.

Thanks, I don't care what time they get there, I'll just get up and grab them but I just want them to be there when we get up.

if you arrive at the airport at 10 or later you'd better get your bags yourself, or they won't arrive at all.

The ME will not get bags for any arrivals after 10PM, personally if I arrived even close to that, I'd get my bags myself anyhow.

If you arrive earlier that, that assume it'll take 3 hours to get the bags in your room.

We arrived at 9:30pm at MCO last March, checked in at ASMu and our bags were delivered at 12:15am.

DME baggage delivery runs between 5am and 10pm. If you arrive after 10pm, and your bags were tagged with the yellow DME tags, they will remain at the airport until the next morning. They will be grabbed then and delivered to your resort.
If you arrive prior to 10pm, and allow DME to get your bags, you need to plan on them being in your resort room up to 3-4 hrs after RESORT checkin, not arrival at the airport. Some get that confused..it's based on when you checkin at your resort.

When staying at a value resort, be aware that their luggage assistence dept isn't nearly as quick as bell services at other resort levels. They don't just head out with the bags all the time. They do it every few hours or so.

The other thing to keep in mind is this...if you arrive late in the evening, and you are allowing DME to deliver your bags to you, but you want to go to sleep, you can let the front desk know that you don't want your bags brought to the room that night, but hold them until first thing in the morning. Then, stop by the luggage assistence/bell services counter and tell them the same thing. When you get to your room, just hang out the 'privacy please' hanger on your door. No one will bother you. You will see the message light flashing on your phone in the morning, with a message telling you that your bags have arrived.

If I was arriving at MCO at any time later than 6pm, I would be very tempted to leave my bags untagged and just get them myself. Then I could bring them to the bus with me and I could get settled in that night, rather than waiting until 10ish for the bags to arrive....or later depending on my arrival time.

Thank you for the replies everyone! Our flight actually is due to arrive @ 9:55pm, close enough to 10 for me. Looks like I'll be picking up our bags, just to be on the safe side! Although I was REALLY looking forward to skipping baggage claim, oh well. I'll be at Disney so really, nothing else matters!
