Okay, this may be a really stupid question but how many bags are you allowed to bring with you on a flight? I've only flown once and I can't remember what I did last time.

I just ordered luggage from DisneyDirect http://disney.store.go.com/DSSectio...777&Product_Id=179879&CLK=DS_11776_PRVRV1_IMG - I was curious if I was able to bring that carry on bag as well as the tote on the plane with me and check the last piece?

TIA,

Jodi

Check the website of the airline you are flying. The rules are different for the airlines. Usually you are allowed 2 suitcases but it depends on the size of the suitcase. There is also a weight restriction with the suitcases.

They may say two carry-on items and not two suitcases. A purse will count as a carry-on item.
Several years back a co-worker and I were travelling. She had her carry on suitcase, a laptop case, and a teeny-tiny purse slung over her shoulder. Seriously now, this purse was no bigger than a wallet. They considered it a carry-on bag. Luckily it was so small that she could slip it into her suitcase but if you have a larger purse, be prepared.

Also be aware, my sister just came back from a trip and she said they were making everyone who was over the weight limit (suitcase) pay an extra fee.

Look at the website of the airline you are using. We are allowed one carry-on (and no that is not a purse)....you can take a carry-on suitcase along with your purse. I have NEVER had any problems with taking my purse seperatly from my carry-on with any airline or airport. AND we get to check in two luggages. If you look at the airline website you will have something to reference if anyone gives you a hard time with carry-ons, luggage, or weight limits. :)

I had my passport/document holder over my neck one time with my carryon suitcase and backpack bag and the security lady made me take it off and put it in the backpack. I thought it was a little ridiculous, but it wasn't worth arguing about. so now if I have a small purse or whatever, i just take it off and stick it in a bag. The rule is "two only". :cool1:

Wow - I would have not given the passport/document holder a second thought.

Thanks everyone for your help - I know it is a stupid question but until 2 years ago I have never flown....still not very fond of it.

Wait a second. By "security lady" do you mean the TSA person at the security checkpoint before anyone gets to any departure gates? If so, this had nothing to do with airline carry-on rules/limits and had everything to do with TSA security procedures. ANY sort of "bag" you're wearing must go through the x-ray machine ... passport holder, fanny pack, backpack, purse, all of 'em. This is a security measure, NOT an airline thing.

Now, ignore everything I said if you actually meant an airline employee at your departure gate asked you to put in in your carry-on.
