Question about linking reservation and the dining plan

I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I booked a studio at BCV in December, then decided to add on one more night at the end which I have already done.

1. I'd like to stay in the same room and not have to change for my last night, so do I need to link the 2 reservations?
2. I'm planning on using QS Dining plan but I'd rather not book it for the last night as my check out day will be an airport run probably late morning and so I might have trouble using up all of the credits. If I link the reservations, do I have to have the dining plan for the whole stay including the last night?

Not the end of the world, I know. Just wondering.

MS might link these reservations automatically, if not, just call or email them and it shouldn't be a problem.

You will have to pay for QS Dinning Plan for the whole stay.

I believe you have two choices:

1. MS can merge the two reservations into one so it'll look like a single reservation, however you'll need to buy the dining plan for the whole stay.

2. If you keep the last night as a separate reservation, you'll only need to buy it for the other stay and the credits will expire at midnight on the check out day. We have a single night stays before and after our BCV stay and only bought the DxDP for the BCV stay. Worst case is you'll have to switch rooms the last night.

Correct me if I'm wrong as this is the first time doing this as well.

If you have booked the exact same room for the last night, you'll have to have the dining plan for both reservations. Back when DVC stopped allowing members to book the plan for part of the stay, they stated that you would either need to change the resort, the size or category villa to have the plan for less than your full stay. Remember that you get the plan for the number of nights of your stay not the number of days.

Since it sounds like right now she has two seaparate reservations I think that’s a different situation. People were taking one reservation and splitting it for dining purposes. If she had them separate already because they were booked separately, I think she could add the Dining plan to the initial reservation. That would then keep them from being combined.

BUT then she stands a very good chance of having to move.

So I think she’s got a decision to make. :)

Thanks all. I have booked the same category room at the same resort for that last night. Maybe I can just do an early check in on the first day so I can use up some of the credits that day. Will try to remember to update you on how it goes.
