Question about laptops from a laptop newbie!

Hello,

I don't know if any of you lovely people can help me.

I've recently purchased my first laptop (an Advent 5313) from my local PC World. The battery life is only about 2 hours, which seems rather low, or is this quite typical of laptops?

I am no expert,but going by mine(when i first got it) it seems a little low.Mine used to be 4 hours,now lucky if it lasts 30mins.x.

I have just got a new laptop too and mine is about 2 hours, my old laptop used to be longer but they all seem about 2 hours now.

You will need to check yours first but my battery just pops out so I can always buy a second battery if I need to but most of the time I use it through the mains anyway.

I think 2 hours is about average. For some laptops you can buy higher capacity batteries if you need a longer battery time.

Ours (Dell XPS) is also about two hours. Remember you can save battery by turning your screen brightness down and having things like Bluetooth turned off if you're not using it. Bluetooth is a big drain on your battery.
Like Claire, our battery pops out and we have a spare

I very rarely use the battery on mine, I have taken it out & run it off the mains. 2 hours seems to be about right for battery life but if you run the laptop off the mains with the battery still attached you will loose life in the battery even quicker then normal, meaning it will only last a few minutes. I did that with my old laptop.

Yep 2 hours is about the norm, I repair / sell laptops for a living so I have seen a fair few, only the newer Dell laptops have extended life but you sacrifce things like speed, lcd brightness, bluetooth,wifi etc.
