Ok - we are trying to figure out some potentional kitchen updates.

For those of you that have corian, granite or quartz counters - what did you do for a backsplash "thingy"

Did you - do nothing, have a backsplash manufactured that matches the counter material, or did you do something different - like tile? Or - if you did something else - what did you do???

And one more question - what type of "edge" did you do? I hate to be cheap here - but I really do not mind the very square edge.

Thanks!!!

Granite. Square edge, I am perfectly happy with it. Back splashes all around the kitchen are travertine set on the angle, with an inset border of tumbled stone that matches the tile floor.

We had granite countertops installed and had a tile blacksplash installed separately. We love it.

We installed granite...regular edge (which I prefer), and full granite back splash. This added considerably to the cost though (about 1/3 more than doing the "standard"....a 4" granite piece that sat on top the counter. To me, a full granite back splash (all the way to the cabinets) makes it look very rich, and finished.

Very happy with it.

I bet this is nice! My DH would never, never go for this. There is no way. He is too cheap!!!

We went with the standard granite counter tops & 4-inch granite backsplash - then had tile work done above the backsplash. We did upgrade to the Ogee edge which I love...

That is beautiful!

We have granite countertops with granite backsplash all the way up to the cabinets with undercounter lighting.

Reason for doing it: easy cleaning.

Corian in pepper ivory for the countertops, with a single beveled edge.

The backsplash is 2 inch slate tiles with dark gray grout. The slate is multi-colored, with grays, beiges, etc.

I love the Corian. I was initially getting laminate, but they had a great special where the Corian was the same price as one of the nicer laminates.

Do you have pics of your backsplash?

Definitely my style! Not what I actually have, but what I'd like to have!

I prefer the tile backsplash. Not only is the granite expensive, but using it for a backsplash is -- in my opinion -- too much of a good thing.

CORIAN in my Boston home ... the back splash is the matching corian going up about 4 inches. Love it like that. Corian came to my home while under construction and we chatted with the tech's and choose this set up.

In my San Diego home I have GRANITE and the back splash goes up 6 inches. Love that as well. It all matches the counter tops.

Oh and OP, I love the sink UNDER ... mistake I made, I did not do that and soooo wished I had. Just like TARA did!!!

I took this pic last week for DawnCT when she was asking about counter's and stool height ... you can see my back splash in the back ground. All matches.

I have Silestone for my countertops and have the matching 4" backsplash. I've never been a huge fan of tile so just have paint about the backsplash. We have a rounded square edge(does that even make sense?)for the edges - the corners are quite rounded so no worries about someone hurting themselves on a corner. Love, love, love my Silestone!

The first photo was taken when we first moved in, and the second one is a closer image of the counter top.

Granite counter tops (straight edge, I think...hope, since the other would be more and I can't remember, lol) and tile backsplash.

OP, I also did an under sink and LOVE it. I also looked into quartz countertops but you know what? The price quoted to me was somewhere between 3 and 4 hundred dollars more for the quartz!

We have the EXACT same granite and cabinets!! ...Mom? Is that you?!

We do not have a backsplash though. I guess we just never got around to it.

OP here - whatever we end up with - I am SO doing an undermount sink. I am so sick of the "crud" that gets stuck by the "seam between the sink and the counter. Mine - won't even come clean anymore. And...I am so done with our faucet too!

Thanks for sharing pics too!!

We have granite and we did granite tiles in the same "style" for the backsplash over by the stove. The tiles go up under the cabinets and microwave on that wall. The sink is undersink and the bar that's there has the same granite. :)

That is gorgous!

I wanted something in keeping with the age and style of the house (1886 Italianate Victorian) so we went with square-edged soapstone and a tin backsplash. The tin is VERY easy to clean, which is a plus in my book.
