Question about kidani room requests

I tried a search for this question and consulted maps and i think i'm more confused than when I started. For my upcoming vacation I'll be staying in AKV - Kidani in a 2br savanna view. I'm taking my mother, my father, and my niece with me.


My mother has arthritis in both her knees and does not want to use an ecv or any kind of wheelchair. It's some kind of 'too proud to admit I may need help' thing. During the day she's fine, we go in september so we don't have to commando style tour, and we go at a slower pace. She's usually fine, sometimes asking to sit down for a bit. But at the end of the day after the bus ride she's usually a little stiff. I would like to cut down on the walking to the room if possible. I have heard that AKV can be quite a walk so I'm wonder what would be the best request to make so there would be less walking to the room.


My niece wants to see giraffes, that's all she wants to see. Is there a particular savanna to request or a higher vs. lower floor to request? This honestly is not that big of a deal, I have no problem walking with my niece to see giraffes wherever they may be at the resort, but figured if we could add a second request, why not?


Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be the best request to make?

You would want to request to be near the main lobby, preferably on the bus stop side. Lower floor would be best for viewing animals. That savanna does have giraffes on it.

When you make your request, make sure you indicate that you have someone in your party with a medical condition as you describe it. I would think that would help in securing your request.

But at the end of the day, it is just a request. When you check in, remind them of the request politely and my guess is they'll try to do the best they can.

I would request (in this order) close to lobby, Sunset Savanna (the only savanna at Kidani that has giraffes), 2nd floor. If you will be relying on Disney busses, you may want to request "close to bus stop" instead of "close to lobby." The 2nd floor is on the level with the lobby. It's great to be eye-level with the giraffes. But if you don't get that 3rd request and end up on a higher floor, you can easily use the elevators. Hope this helps!

Be sure to add the "for medical reasons" to your request, but don't accept a HA room unless you need it.
