My tiny daughter (she has constitutional growth delay and is only 48” tall) will have just turned 10 when we go to Aulani. She does not eat meat. Nor does she drink alcohol. Will I be able to book her as a child for the luau? We want to book the preferred seating and it seems ridiculous to pay $200 for her when she’s going to eat a roll.

They have to draw the line somewhere with their pricing, otherwise everyone would have an excuse to not pay the higher price. They are usually pretty firm about it. They only know her age because you tell them. They don't ask for a child's birth certificate.

We paid for my 10-year old as an adult this summer and it is a bit ridiculous given the huge price difference. He was wanting the food that all the other (under 10-year old) kids were getting, not the adult versions too. More expensive and less good (in his mind) wasn't winning us over.

A luau isn't "buying a dinner that also has a show."

It's "buying tickets to a show that happens to include dinner."

Yes, a kid might eat less/different food than adults, but he or she is still seeing the same performers on the same stage. If you think of it like it's a $200 meal, you're never going to get your money's worth, no matter how much you eat. If you go see Aladdin on Broadway or a Yankee game, your kid is going to pay the exact same price as any adult.

So why do they charge two different prices?
