don't know where I've been but this is the 1st movie that I saw the red 'wound' on Jacks right jaw.
I love watching for continuity stuff and was wondering if it was just something that 'happened" in the movie making. sooooo I watched for "it" in every scene. & yup there were some scenes where it was NOT there.

soooo I searched online to see what was going on. seems that it is supposed to be there. in one of Depp's comments it was a syphillis mark that cap'n Jack had. ((eeewwwww )
ok, but WHY did they do a bad job of continuity? ( yes, they could say it heals & comes back, but some of these scenes were within the same day of "happenings" not likely to heal & then come back several times in a day)

anyone else pay attention?

now I gotta go rewatch the other movies again ..... in hidef

I always heard it was syphillis. I did notice it in the 4th movie as well, but didn't look close enough to notice if ever a time it was missing.

The red circle place that is sort of in his beard?

I noticed it after he was on the island in the second movie and I thought in that movie that it was left over of his face being painted. Then I noticed it was still there in third movie so I did wonder about it, never would have thought of a mark from syphillis :confused3 how would anyone know that? (other than the writers and JD)

You know what I want to know? In POTC 2, Lord Beckett made a statement that he and Jack left a mark on the other-then you see Jack's branded P on his wrist. Obviously it stands for pirate, but i wanted to know that back story, but nope they never addressed it.

I know, I always wanted to know about that too. Since it was shown in the first movie and then again in the second movie, you would have thought they would have told the story.

Johnny Depp has said the red sore was something he and the make up person played with. Could be that some scenes were filmed out of order and came before they thought of it.

well , yup.. scenes are pretty much not in order filmed. that is where the continuity *person* is supposed to keep track of.

speaking of continuity

I am watching star wars episode II
& they (so far) have anikins braid switching sides in the same 'event' ( the bar chasing scene at the beginning)

Missed that part of the movie on Spike. But sometimes they like to take shots and "flip" them over for some reason. That screws with identifying marks as Padawan Braids, lightning tattoos, etc....

And yes, scenes in a movie can be filmed out of order. Usually when they're using a particular location, they film all the scenes that occur there. A friend of mine's working on the filming of "Hunger Games" and they're filming the district shots right now. Then they'll move to the mountains for the filming of the Games.

Heck, I thought it was ringworm. :lmao:

Every once in a while he seems to scratch at it too. Ewwww.

In Dead Men Tell No Tales, Jack Sparrow said he suffered from scabies. Could this be a scabies sore?
