question about IP address?

how do i change my IP address if i have cable internet? i just got the cable service and dont know how that works for the reward programs. me and DH both do them and i dont want my accounts cancelled for this reason.

As far as I know your IP address stays the same if you have a cable modem. I have checked with my local provider many times over the years that I have had mine and they tell me it cannot be changed. DH & I both do MileSource, MyPoints, and we used to do Blink. We never had a problem with any of the programs and cleared our history, cache and cookies frequently. HTH!

that is correct that your ISP addy stays the same.

But some people have had accts closed because of this.

Someone posted that there was a program that would change it for you.But sorry to say I do not know what it is .

I'm confused. Why would your IP address be important to a reward program? If your ISP makes use of a modem pool, you'll have a different IP address each time to connect to the Internet. If you access your account from work and home, you'll be using a different IP address each time you connect. I just don't see how it would work.

Now if you're referring to your email address, that's different.

we have different email addy's but both do the rewards from the home computer. he is a welder so no computer at work, and i am a SAHM so no work to have a computer at! not that i am complaining!

the Ip addy is important not to the rewards program but to the sponsers.

Say you do Milesource and directly after you finish without logging off the internet your DW does Milesource also.


Well all the sponser see is that the traffic they are getting is from the same IP addy.They don't like that.What they pay Rewards programs money for is advertizment or new visits to their site each day.Hoping that on one of those visits you will buy something.


That is why it matters.Did I explain that well enough. I did try.
