Question about how many people per room

MommyPoppins,

Your kids are so little, I think you would be ok in any of the moderates. I think if it were me, I'd put the three oldest in one bed, sleeping width-wise, and then put the baby in bed with you and your husband. :)

You might find PO-FQ to be the best resort- very little walking and a great small slide for little ones.

YOu can get a port a crib for the baby. Sleeping with the parents can be dangerous... JMHO!

Thanks for the tips Scoootch! I'm not sure I understand the whole renting points thing, but it does sound cheaper for a week long visit. I"m not sure how much it would benefit us as we are only staying 2 nights. We have a 7 day vacation planned...arriving 1 day early pre-cruise and staying at Ron Jon's in Cape Canaveral. Then, going on a 4 day cruise. Since cruise ends on a Thursday, why go home and work on Friday? So, thought we'd trapse over to WDW and go home on Saturday. Thursday our plan is just to hang out at the resort (if we stay at the poly) & let the kids (ages 5 and 3) swim...watch the fireworks, EWP, etc.... Then, buy 1 day passes to MK on Friday. Go home Saturday. So, we essentially picked the poly due to its convenience and closeness to MK. We're hoping our TA, DU, can get us a PS at Cindy's Castle on Friday, but thought 1 day at MK would be enough for our young ones. Then, maybe in a few years, we'd make a week long trip of it to WDW so they can experience and see more of the parks. But, so I know, where are the DVC properties? And what are they? What does OKW stand for? Are any close to MK? If you were in our situation would you still think DVC was the way to go? I'm new to this so still not really sure....I've heard when codes came out last year for GVpoly, it was around 239, so a little cheaper if its the same. Thanks for any advice you may have. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I would do DVC or 2 connecting rooms in a value. POR is nice, but the thought of 6 people in 1 room is just a little too cozy for my taste :grouphug:

Just remember if you are considering renting points from a DVC member, that the points needed for a Friday or Saturday stay are almost double the weekday points. And the points needed change from season to season. You would need to check your dates, point required for that season, and if you are staying the weekend before determining your value.

Right now we do have 2 GV rooms at the poly. And, it would be a thurs and fri night.

Okay...in that case, this trip wouldn't really benefit you by renting the points...at least not for the Fri. night. The example I gave was based on an entire weeks stay from say a Sat. to the following Sat. but in Sept;) It still comes out much less expensive than paying to stay at the Poly for 2 rooms. However, for individual days the points are much more expensive (as Sammie pointed out) per night for a Fri. night and/or a Sat.night and you'd need that Fri. night:( If you only needed a Wed. night and a Thurs. night it would be less expensive but not for a Thurs. night and Fri. night.

Anyway, enough on that before it gets confusing.

As to your other questions about:
But, so I know, where are the DVC properties? And what are they? What does OKW stand for? Are any close to MK?
OKW stands for OLD KEY WEST resort it's actually right next to Port Orleans French Quarter ;) The other DVC resorts are: VWL (Villas at Wilderness Lodge) which is attatched to the WL (Wilderness Lodge resort) near the Magic Kingdom, SSR Saratoga Springs Resort near Downtown Disney,BWV's Board Walk Villa's (attatched to BWI Board walk Inn) - you can walk or take a boat to both Epcot and MGM from there. BCV'sBeach Club Villas - attached to BC Beach Club resort - also walkable or boat to Epcot and MGM. And....off sight there is VB Vero Beach resort 2hours away on the ocean in Vero Beach and HHI Hilton Head Island resort in S.C.

Whew....that's all of them lol :)

If you were in our situation would you still think DVC was the way to go? I'm new to this so still not really sure....I've heard when codes came out last year for GVpoly, it was around 239, so a little cheaper if its the same. Thanks for any advice you may have.
If I were in your shoes and you were talking about a whole weeks stay yes...it's defenitly the way to go if you can find the right person you're comfortable with to rent points from as you can stay for much less $$ in much nicer accommodations. Even if it were just you,dh and the kids and got a studio you'd be getting more than you get in a regular hotel room and it can often cost less than staying in the moderates even. You may get a rate of $239 per night for the Poly like you have now but may be able to pay more like $800 for the entire week (which by the way is what a studio at OKW would cost for Sept. -- this would all depend on time of year & villa size but for comparison sake a good example) 80pts for a studio at OKW for 7 full nights = $800 @ $10 per point. vs. $1,673.00 Plus tax -- even without the tax you're saving $873.

Anyway, it's not something for this trip with your only needing 2 nights and it including a Friday night stay but for a future trip where you may stay for a full week...yes, I'd rent the points.

Thanks again Scootch for explaining all of this! Who knows? We may love it soo much that we decide to go back next year....at least that is the vibe I'm getting from these boards...ha ha. Addiction!
