Question about Hopper cost on Package

I called to cancel our park hopper option on our package today. We added a day to our trip and it pushed us about 150.00 over our budget and we are trying to stay tight so we can have spending money and such to have fun with when at WDW. We booked the stay/play/dine back on the day it originally came out for Visa holders.

So, I called today and asked to remove that from the package. The CM came back and said it was only going to be a savings of $40.00. I am confused. I thought after tax the total cost to upgrade to a park hopper was around $60.00 per ticket. We have two adults and a child on the package so wouldn't that be around $180.00 savings if I removed it.

Does the package cause this price to be different? Just curious. I'm wondering if the CM was mistaken and I should call back or if this is the correct amount I would be refunded if I remove the hopper option. Thanks for any help you can give!!

How many days were on your original tickets before you added the day and how close to your trip are you? It's impossible to do all of the math required without that information.

We are staying at AS Movies from Jan 10-21 so 11 nights. We upgraded to the regular dining plan. Our tixs are 10 day park hoppers. So, we are 50 days from the trip today. I need to pay off trip next week. We didn't add a day to the tixs b/c we already had the 10 day park hopper to begin with and the extra day was us arriving late night so we didn't need an extra day in parks anyway. Hope that helps.

We don't park hop, but from what I understand it shouldn't matter if you had 3 days or 10 days, the price is the same and around $50 per person. The math doesn't sound correct to me- I would call back.

That's my thoughts but I am wondering if this stay play dine package has a discount on the hopper part too...that's the only explanation. Otherwise, the CM was wrong. I'm hoping someone has some insight b/c I'm not really understanding it at all right now. And I've always seemed to get these discounts. Argh!!

According to Cheshire Figments Ticket Sticky, it cost's $57 per ticket (adult and child) to add the park option ticket to any multi-day ticket. So I would definitely call back.

Correct.

HOWEVER-
If the OP has MYW tickets with the WPF&M (Water Park) option

-AND-

the Park Hopper option,

it will only save $22 per ticket (and tax) to drop just the Park Hopper option.

I only have the 10 day park hopper. Not the water parks option. I also asked on the resort boards and no one can explain. One person said that b/c I booked it with the visa, it was the first people to book and that there was a glitch and the price was actually higher than what we were given and that WDW adjusted it later and that may be why it's not giving me 180.00 in savings. I don't get it though.

Is the offer still available? Try pricing it online as a new reservation and see what you get.

Edit - I did a test with and without park hopper and the difference was about $180. But if your original reservation was priced wrong, that would explain why it's not coming out as much.

I seem to remember reading elsewhere on the board that some people who booked the S/P/D package in the first days of release had a glitch, and were charged a lower package price than Disney intended. Disney made the adjustment, and honored the prices those families booked for.

However, if people tried to adjust their packages - adding days, etc. - the new prices went into effect when those adjustments were made, which added cost to some people's packages. Im not sure when you booked, but if it was in the early days of that promotion, could something like this be the reason?

my thoughts exactly - you saved because you booked before they figured out the glitch - now if you change anything they're going to "fix" the glitch price.

That's what I was wondering. After the person on the resorts board suggested that, I remembered reading about the glitch. Hate they don't honor the price even with a simple change but at least I got the less expensive price. Guess we will just be off on some spending money and keep the hopper.
