Is a Standard room the same as a Deluxe (in terms of pricing)?
The reason I ask is because I wanted to make sure we have a microwave so I called Hojo In House and spoke with a very nice gal, Jennifer. I was prepared to pay an additional upgrade fee, possibly to a Premium to have Disney View and to make sure we get a room with a microwave. Well, she couldn't find my reservation!:scared1: She took my number and went to research. It wasn't but 5 min (super quick) that she called back:) and stated it was an error on their end and someone had entered my check-in wrong. OK...all was ok:cool2: Then she said she would upgrade me with no charge to a Deluxe. Sooo, my question is...do you actually pay for an upgrade to a Deluxe? I was assuming you had a Standard or Deluxe and pay for the Upgrade to a Premium. For all you Hojo experts, correct me if I am wrong:)
I mean Jennifer was very nice and I am happy with a Garden View Upgrade considering we were most likely on the Standard Freeway Side before...but a little nervous if I had not called then we probably wouldn't have had a room at all?:scared1:

I have actually done a fair amount of reading and research on this. Apparently there are a couple of options for the $59 rate. One is to be in building one, with a standard room: no microwave. Two is to be in building two in a deluxe room, with a microwave. I am not sure if the deluxe room in building two the wonderful pillow top beds that everyone raves about, or not.

I would not worry about it. Just ask for a confirmation number, and I am sure they will honor it.

yeah they are...bldg 2 is the garden pool bldg...however, just so you know...not every room has the pillow top beds though...microwaves and fridges yes

Standard rooms and deluxe rooms are the same price 59 night. Standard rooms have double beds while deluxe rooms have queen size beds.

Which rooms are the $74 rooms? and what is the difference from the $59 room?

$74 also all have pillowtops, the $59 do not yet. And the $59 can be loud when you are too close to the freeway.

the "premium" rooms are 74 they have a disney view, a great one? Not really you look at the Matterhorn through a bunch of trees... Fireworks at night are okay from the balconey we were hardly in the room at night.

I was told the premium rooms got the new pillow top mattresses first and now so does the deluxe rooms in building 2... we are staying in building 2 this Oct, so we'll see! We normally stay in building 1 the very last 2 rooms on one of the top floors (supposedly the best view, I beg to differ....) :rolleyes1

I think all the premium rooms have the micro, fridge, and pillow top beds. Unless it has changed since my last trip in june, all the other rooms have fridge but is hit and miss on the micro and pillow top beds. Our room had a fridge and pilowtop beds but no microwave. ( I needed the microwave for medical reasons. The staff let me use the microwave in the office but as soon as they saw I would need it a few times a day tney were kind enough to offer to bring one to room.)

I hope this helps. I would call the HOJO direct and ask if you can be assigned a room with the items you reguest.

On a side not the pillowtop beds are so comfy.

Have fun

Patty

that is not correct....majority of the $59 a night rooms have pillow top beds but there are still a few that dont...I stay at hojo every 2 months and personally prefer bldg 2...however, the room I stayed in june did not have the pillowtop mattresses...they were queen beds but the older ones...

dale every room I have stayed in has had the microwave and there has only been one time that I have paid the $74 a night rate...you can ask them and they will do their very best to accomodate you...they are so good like that

Apparently you misunderstood my post. I said "$74 also all have pillowtops, the $59 do not yet. And the $59 can be loud when you are too close to the freeway." Please note that I said the $74 rooms all ahve pillowtops but the $54 do not YET, I think you missed my yet. Last time I was in bldg 2 I was in a freeway room with no pillowtops, it was only for 1 night though so it wasn't a big deal. :)

They are in the process of changing all the mattresses to pillowtop but some of the rooms have not been done, all of the $74 rooms are done but not all of the $59. Hope that clears that up some.
:)

Thanks for all the responses, but it doesn't really answer my question in that she said she "upgraded my room to a deluxe for no charge". According to you guys the room change isn't really an upgrade. Right? Like I wouldn't spend extra money for a Standard to a Deluxe. So was that really a gesture to help my situation of them messing-up my reservation. I am thinking an upgrade to a Premium would have been more appropriate.
I hope I don't sound to b*&chy, but I don't feel good that they tried to tell me it was an upgrade when it really wasn't.
Does that make sense?

I honestly dont think they were trying to get one over on you...what I think is (and this is just my opinion not fact) but some of the rooms in bldg 2 are bigger than the others....like the ones closest to the front sliding doors are much bigger with not as much furniture and a nice comfy chair and ottoman plus it seems like the bath is a little bigger...and they have balconies you can actually go sit on with tables and chairs and Im wondering if that is not what a deluxe room is...I personally dont think its worth upgrading to the $74 a night room unless you will be in your room for fireworks then its ok

Maybe the upgrade was from Standard (double bed) to Deluxe (Queen bed)? Not necessarily extra cash, but extra comfort?

Thanks guys- I too think they were being nice. We are a family of 3 adults and 2 kids so I hope we weren't in a Double. But anyhow a Deluxe room in Building 2 sounds great from what I have read here. I was just curious as to what others thought. I am soo looking forward to our stay! Yipee!
