Question about Hilton Head

We are going to the DVC resort at Hilton Head for our first visit in a couple of months. When I made reservations the lady asked me if there was a special occasion that I would be celebrating, at the time I said no, but the truth is yes, our 9 yr. anniversary. What I am wondering about is, has any LBGT person been to Hilton Head and let it be known that you were celebrating a special day? If so what sort of reaction did you get? I was a little hesitant since we have never been there and do not know the atmosphere. Thanks for any input.

Hello, I might be able to provide you with a little info on your question. There really isn't an LGBT presence on HHI, although a few years ago there was a club on South Beach that offered a "gay night". HHI is a retirement/ tourist town so there are quite a bit of "older" generation folks out here that can give a dirty look here and there but would probably never say anything directly to you. Quite a bit of the locals here are Northerns so they tend to turn the other cheek and the Southerns disapprove while still offering up that southern charm. Hahah. Ok, back on topic before we turn this into another Civil War.

Being that the island strives on its tourist revenue, I would think that if you asked for some sort of special occasion, they would obligued. As far as getting out and about. you should definately take the 30-45 min drive to Savannah and check out the nightlife. There is the popular gay club, Club One and a ton of tours and sights to see. Three levels of music and party!

I hope I shed some light on your question. I live in SAV and only go to HH to shop and cycle. Good luck and have a blast.

I will be at Disney's HHI Resort the week before and including Halloween, couldn't let that cheap Disney Visa rate go by without us--this is our first trip.

If you will be there that week, let me know. I will come sing for your anniversary, or buy you a cake at the local market. Let me know, I will be sitting by the pool the whole week. :cool2:

If your worried about the actual Disney resort, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Disney prides itself on its diversity programs.

We will be there Nov. 10-14, too bad a little song would have been nice :cool1:

Yes, I was considering how the staff would treat us or react. What do they do if you tell them of a special occasion?
