question about height restrictions at water parks..

We just got back and had a similar problem with heights (not twins, but siblings) at Blizzard Beach. Our DD is 6 and 49-1/2 inches, DS is 4 (44 inches), and DD is 1-1/2. My oldest DD was too tall for the kiddie area (and quite frankly would have been bored to death there), so DH took her to the pre-teen area which was ok for her. She also did some of the big slides. However, that left me with my 4 yr old and 1 yr old in the kiddie area. My 4 yr old wanted to do the slides in that area and so did my 1 yr old, but I couldn't be at the top of the slide to get them down AND at the bottom to be there to catch them. I really needed another set of hands.

Also, I didn't see them giving anyone a problem that was over 48 inches that were just playing around in the kiddie area, but they were measuring at the top of one of the slides to make sure the kids going down were under 48 inches. But I really think your 7 year olds would be completely bored in the kiddie area. Even my 4 year old was borderline. It really is for little ones. The problem is, you need to be 48 inches to do many of the larger slides.

Overall, we had a good time, but I wouldn't do it again until my kids are older. I think it is a great place if you have enough adults to split the different age group kids but otherwise it can be a little stressful on mom and dad.

We did enjoy the lazy river and the family raft ride, however, my one year old couldn't go up on the chair lift that leads to the family raft ride so we had to hike up the millions of stairs to get to the top (or at least it seemed like a million in the heat of July, lol!). We only did that once. There was a long line for the chair lift anyway.

Hope my rambling helped in some way, lol!

We had a similar problem at BB when the kids were 4 and 5. The kiddie area was far too boring for them, and the ski patrol area they couldn't stand in (and neither could swim). They had a great time in the tide pool bobbing in lifejackets - but there is an age that the waterparks really miss - (its the same age that the Mickey Slide on the cruise is PERFECT for because it is still thrilling, but doesn't dump them into water over their heads). Both parks need a area 2-4 feet deep with slides that have some speed, but which a three or four year old can stand at the end. (There are slides like this to the left side of the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.)

Two years later we were a Typhoon Lagoon with a 6 and 7 year old and they had a great time.

I am taking my two step children (over 50 inches each) and my 10 month old DD. When you were at the park with you re 4 month old did you get to do the lazy river with the 4 month old? Did they have a special float for the baby? The reason I ask is because my DH and step kids are thrill seekers so he will have them off riding rides, I am pregnant (3 months) so I cant ride anything which is fine with me I would prefer the lazy river anyway, but with the baby I don't know what I am going to do , she cant walk but she loves water so being in the lazy river would be cool, she has her own baby float but i doubt they will let me use that. Anyway, I just don't want to waste a whole day at WDW on TL if me and the baby aren't going to enjoy it, we aren't getting hopper tickets or anything so that's not even an option... :confused3 oh well I am panicking for nothing I am sure lol thanks for any help!!

In your case I would strongly consider separating for the day and spending the time with the baby at your resort and resort pool etc. The cost of your admission combined with the lack of shade for you and the baby could make for a long fairly uncomfortable day for both of you. IIRC they don't even have many lounge chairs left just chairs and very few tables. Since you will be separating so the older kids can do the slides etc it may make more sense to skip the water park for yourself and the baby this trip.

Either way have a great trip.

I have a related question. Our ds will be just 8 days shy of 2 when we go to Blizzard Beach in November. Will he be able to go with us on the family tube slides? :confused3 He is about 33 inches now, so he probably wouldn't be much taller than that in 2 months. He is VERY adventurous and loves water, so I know he would not be afraid, but I am just wondering if he'll be allowed in the family rafts/boats/whatever. Thanks!
