Has anyone gone to the mickey's not so scary halloween party? How much does the extra ticket cost? How scary is it? We are going with our children who will be 5 and 2 1/2. Will it be too scary for them? :scared1:

We have attended MNSSHP for the past 5 years. My youngest was 3 the first year we attended. We did not find it scary at all. As a matter of fact, last years parade was disappointing to us compared to the previous we had seen. It was extremely kid friendly, we were hoping for a little bit more but it was still good. Characters are dressed in costume, but none of them are scary. There is trick or treating (for both kids and adults) and other activities, all of which are very kid friendly.

I can't off hand remember how much each ticket is, but I can tell you that last year we spent $141.46 for 3 adults and 1 child. The price does increase each year.

The party lasts until 12:00 a.m. Parades are generally around 8:00 and 10:00 and the Hallowishes (fireworks) is around 9:15. Many people with younger children leave early. That might be a deciding factor for you.

In my opinion it is a do not miss.

We will be at WDW in October, and I called Disney and asked if they had released the dates for MNSSHP. They said they hadn't and he wasn't sure when they would.

No dates as of yet. We will going for the first time this year. Next year we are going to try to go during christmas..

Thanks for the info, We can't wait to go. I also found out the price for tickets to this event at DIS homepage, for any others who are interested!!

My five year old was a little scared the first time she went. She was three, but was fine after seeing candy was involved. The parade is really neat and we have been going to this event for the past two years. I wouldn't miss it! But don't tell too many people- I don't want it turning into a Summer day at the park. :lmao: Just kidding.
I love to see all the little kids dressed up and they give handfulls of candy! You can walk on to the rides and the weather and crowd levels can't be beat.
Once you do this, you won't want to go at any other time of the year. We are spoiled now.
Its a no lose situation- less costs to get in, less crowds and lines and free candy.

Oh just to let you know- Although the party starts at 7:00 pm, you can enter the turnstiles as early as 4:00 pm. This isn't advertised, but a cast member shared this information with me last year when I was telling him 7-midnight just wasn't long enough. So at the MVMCP we entered at 4:00 pm. Those extra hours ensured we had the chance to ride everything and we rode our favorites twice!

Buy your tickets when they are released- probably May 1st, because this event will sell out. Each year I hear families at the gate wanting to purchase the special event tickets and it is always sold out the day of the event.

Have fun! You might want to bring glow necklaces or flashlights as a distraction for the times when the park gets dark. The dollar store carries these during Halloween season. This way you don't get suckered into buying a $15 light up toy while you wait for the parades.

A dissenting opinion:

We went last year and it wasn't worth the money. It would be worth every penny if your kids could stay up until 10 or 11 and were "Mountain" riders (mine will ride BTMRR, but that is it) - no lines at all on the Mountains. The parade was cute. There was lots of Trick or Treating, but my kids get plenty of candy from October through Easter. It starts at seven and my kids bedtime is 8:30 - and they were pretty tired from being at Disney. We kept them up to see the fireworks (my son was doing better than my daughter) and left right after the fireworks. So we spent $120 or something for a little candy, a parade, two rides on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a trip through the Haunted Mansion, a showing of Mickey's Philharmagic (and the rides we had no problem knocking off during the day) and fireworks we could have seen from the beach at the Poly. The logistics of costumes was difficult. Then they were wiped the next day.
