Question about guest in wheelchair

Did anyone have a wedding guest that was in a wheelchair/power chair? I asked my planner about what my options are - she could transfer herself from the power chair to the limo with help but we'd need transportation for her chair. She said that an equipped van for that is $198 for 4 hours but she'd look into other options for me.

Is your question for your guest in regards to how they would transport to locations? Why is your guest in a wheelchair? (I don't mean for this to sound weird). One of my guest (my uncle) is in a wheelchair--he's a paraplegic at level T4 (I'm a physical therapist-sorry). I thoroghly looked into accessability for my uncle. I may be able to help you.

Yes, I had a guest who needed a wheelchair. I informed my FTW Event Manager of this ahead of time and he handled things beautifully.

My guest had just undergone back surgery and thus was in a lot of pain and couldn't tolerate walking for any sort of distances. My Event Manager arranged for a wheelchair to be waiting for her inside the theme park (where our dinner reception was being held). As soon as my guest stepped off the motor coach, she sat down in the waiting wheelchair and her husband pushed her to the dinner venue:

It worked out nicely and my guest was most grateful.

Had my guest been unable to walk, I would have had to arrange other transportation for her since I don't believe our private motor coach had a wheelchair ramp. But that would have been perfectly fine by me because I was simply thrilled to pieces that my dear friend was able to travel to my vow renewal (it was a touch-and-go situation for her right up until the last minute).

I know of a few folks who have had "X" transportation for their physically-able guests, and "Y" transportation for their guests with physical limitations. Disney was able to arrange satisfactory transportation for everyone. I hope that the FTW folks are able to come up with a recommendation that suits your guests' needs and your budget.

I remember that Tiggerific's MOH is in a wheelchair, and her TR is around here somewhere. I think her actual screenname is Tiggerific with some numbers after it, like Tiggerific07, but I'm not sure...anyway, look back a few pages and you'll find it!

Thank you SO much for all the replies and pictures. I apologize for being unclear in my original post. I'll try to explain.

My guest has Cerebral Palsy so she's unable to walk. I really want her to ride in the limo with us because I think she'd really enjoy it. She'd be able to transfer to the limo with our help (I help her into my car, but she normally takes her fold-up wheelchair if we go out). But, she's using her powerchair which won't fold up to take with us.

I asked my wedding planner about it, and she originally quoted $198 for a 4 hour van equipped for her needs. I'm assuming that's probably a ramp and somebody to assist with her powerchair. I was hoping for a less expensive option since we would only need a way to transport her powerchair and not her. But, I guess we still have to pay for the manpower whether or not she's in the van physically. The planner said she'll look into other options but I have a feeling the van might be the only way.

All I know is, if paying $198 for a van to make her absolutely comfortable and happy on that day, then it's completely worth it to me.

When I asked my planner about accessiblity and she said they have a bus that has a lift or the van (a lift for the van would be best so you don't have to push the chair up the ramp--you know they are heavy.)--or to transfer board (which is not your option). The tricky issue is the power chair--it won't fit in anything but an accessible van or bus. You can't take the chair apart. My last suggestion is renting an accessible lift van for your guest's stay put still having your guest go in the limo with you but I don't know how much that is. I wish I could give you other suggestions. Disney is expensive.
