Question about grand gathering breakfast at MK

Okay, so our next WDW trip is in July 2010, but my parents and sister & her daughters are most likely going with us for that first trip "home" as DVC members to BWV (we will have enough points for three rooms). There would be 10 people in our party, and the youngest will already be 3 years old. DH and I will definitely be getting the DDP for ourselves and our 2 boys. My parents and sister are considering the DDP also after we told them our experience with it this past July.

So, how does the grand gathering breakfast work at the Magic Kingdom? Where exactly in the park is it, and are there characters? Are grand gathering meals and events private, or with other large parties? I know I sound ridiculous asking all these basic questions but I have no experience with GG's and would like to find out more info.

My parents and sister would be staying for 5 nights, but we are going to be staying for 10 nights. Would we still be able to do a GG for the first 5 nights they are there without having to check out and check back into the resort? Also, do you pay extra to officially make your trip a Grand Gathering? Or only the specific events are paid for that you decide to do?

I don't know much about Grand Gatherings, I just booked my first one the other day for 9 of us traveling including one severely disabled man. The folks on the phone were VERY helpful with our special needs and my confusion in booking a large group.

But as I understand it: GGs just means that your reservations and rooms are all together. You can book your entire group into different activities as well with other large groups. I don't believe there is any separate restaurant for GGs.

Still I would call Disney to ask them these questions, it won't take as long as waiting for answers here...no disrespect intended to the boards here

Never did it, but recently booked a GG. I don't think there is any increase in price unless you choose to do one of the GG events. Some take 1 or 2 DDP TS credits or cash. The events are with other families as far as I understand and most are not scheduled for every day. There is a calendar for GG events on wdwinfo.com.

The MK breakfast is at Tony's Town Square and then priority seating at Mickey's Philharmagic (sp?).
