Question about good neighbor hotels

TBH, even if some of the hotels are a fair distance away from the parks, they are still counted as GN hotels (particularly if they live up to the standards required).

The Staybridge Suites hotel on S Manchester Av (where my wife and I stay when we travel over from the UK) is, i believe, a good neighbor hotel (and I think that's official, though i could be wrong) and strive to achieve this aim.

No "standards" are required..... good neighbor only means a business / financial arrangement with Disney.

Are there any close hotels where the door to the room does not open to the outside? We like the hotels that open into the inside

I think all of the Howard Johnson rooms are interior access. I'm sure there are others.

2 weeks ago, we stayed at the Desert Palms Inn & Suites, which is at Katella and Harbor. Same side of the street as DL. It was a 10-15 min walk to the DL/DCA turnstiles. We really liked the hotel!

That's so good to hear! We're staying there in couple weeks. What were your thoughts on the breakfast and pool area?

We were quite impressed with the breakfast...huge selection! A few hot items which change(sausage, biscuits w/ gravy, potatoes, eggs every day), pastries(muffins, donuts), whole and cut fruit, yogurt and cottage cheese, toast, waffles, cereals, oatmeal, coffee, milk and juice. We thought it couldn't have been better! The dining room is quite large and there's an outdoor seating area which overlooks DCA!

The pool area was small, but nice. It's outdoors, but in the center of the building, so there's no view of outside. The pool is salt water, which was a surprise to us! We really enjoyed the hot tub...very relaxing after long days in the parks.

Desert Palms Inn & Suites has internal hallways.

If you are worried about walking distance most of the hotels mentioned are actually closer to the park entrance than the Disneyland hotel. The grand Californian is obviously the closest to the park entrances but the Best Western, Tropicana, Park Vue and Desert Inn are actually closer to the park entrance than the Disneyland and Paridise Pier hotels.

We have stayed at BW Raffles and Hilton they are both about 15-20 min walking with kids. We only walked once from Hilton to the parks after that we always just use the shuttle.

"We stay at the Fairfield Inn." from mommy2mrb,

We have stayed there, at the Tropicana, and at Desert Inn & Suites.
Fairfield is just a bit farther, and that makes a huge difference at the end of a marathon DL day.
But it is our favorite. The other two are a little bit less $ for our large family. Did not really care for the Tropicana, but will stay there in a pinch.

Also, the crosswalk across Harbor is VERY well traveled, and so it's safe.
Never have a problem with traffic, but it does take a couple minutes waiting for the light.

We stayed at Peacock Suites last time. My mom was with us, so we got a two bedroom and it was great. We loved having the extra space. We're staying there again this time too. We left the car with the valet and took Lyft to the park for around 6 bucks each way. It was easier, cheaper, and faster than driving.

Has anyone stayed at courtyard by Marriott at theme park entrance? I noticed it has interior corridors but didn't know how far the walk was. Also is it a further walk than Disneyland hotel? I want something with interior corridors. And if I stay in a non disney property, will I be sorry I don't early entry into DCA with it being in the middle of summer?

I haven't stayed there, but did stay next door at the HoJo. It is an easy walk. I'd say about 10 minutes to get from the Courtyard to the security. I just mapped out the walking distance on Google maps and it is the same distance between the middle of the esplanade and the two hotels (0.5 miles). The big difference in the walks is from DLH, you walk through DTD. From the Courtyard, you walk along Harbor and cross the street.

I don't think you will be sorry about missing early entry in the middle of the summer. Those will be peak operating hours, so parks opening at 8:00 am (with early entry at 7:00). 8:00 is still early for most people and you will find the first couple hours of the day to be fantastic. We went in early August and the first few hours were perfect.

@ what was the noise level at peacock? Looks on the map like it's near the highway. I have kids with sensory processing disorder. TIA.

If you can afford the Disneyland hotel and you are comparing the new Marriott I would highly consider the DL. Because Marriott is expensive. The only caveat is if you need a suite with a door. I love the HomeWood suites for that. It is a 15 min walk.

I put in google maps that Disneyland hotel is 15 min walk. Maybe it's shorter if you can go through dtd?

Marriott is a 5 min walk.

This is our favorite hotel - we stay there almost every time we go (unless there's no availability)...it doesn't get a lot of mention on these boards but it is a nice place.

My husband is sensitive to sounds too and he had no complaints and slept fine. I don't know how the noise level compares to other hotels though, and we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel other than sleeping.

The Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini Suites is the very closest hotel to the main gates. Even compared to the Disney hotels, it's the closest (with the exception of the Grand's entrance into DCA).

We stayed there earlier this week. It's my go to hotel because it's such a short walk...5 minutes top. The rooms have recently been remodeled, which is nice. The beds are comfy (a bit soft). My only complaint is that the pillows are pretty dense, but I always bring one of my own when I travel. Lots of outlets and a good size mini-fridge in the room.

Has anyone stayed at the Quality Inn on Manchester? I'm staying there in November and was just curious to know how the walk was to the park and everything. Thanks!
