Question about Gold Pass ordered prior to annual pass changes

My family canceled our annual passes during the time Disney World was closed and received a partial refund. We then renewed them when Disney allowed certain annual passes to be renewed. It is the Gold Pass. We have not activated the pass yet. We intend to activate it during our trip to Disney Thanksgiving week. The Gold Pass did not block out Thanksgiving Week. However, it is now blocked out with the Sorcerers Pass. Does anyone know if we will be allowed to activate our Gold Pass or will we have to convert those passes to the new passes? If so, we will incur additional expense for Thanksgiving week.

Thank you.

John

From recent posts, the answers from Disney are all over the place. But the most recent one that I read was from someone who activated a Gold Pass at the parks. They were issued a Sorcerer Pass with photopass included. The block out dates are Sorcerer dates, not Gold dates. That would mean Thanksgiving would be blocked out.

You will need to call and talk to someone. The pass will be blocked out now As you will be given the Sorcerer pass.

It may take a few calls as others have reported the same issue. It sounds like it’s case by case and the solution may be different for each case.

Thank you both, i will call and report back once I have an answer. It would seem that they should allow outstanding gold pass certificate holders to choose to have the old blackout dates but we shall see if Disney agrees.

On one or two of the several threads addressing this, at least one person reported having to be politely persistent, willing to hold on and escalate the issue until he reached someone who understood and could address the issue. He too had DVC reservations made at the 11 month mark for Thanksgiving, and ultimately he will have park admission for the days the Gold pass is blocked out during his trip. I don't know the specifics, but if I can find his post I'll link it for you. He said he was getting nowhere until someone actually looked at his MDE account and verified that he had booked his DVC resort and also made park pass reservations for those Thanksgiving dates, so the most important thing was having the CM look at MDE.
