Question about getting into/out of MK

So once we walk out of the front gate to head back to our car, what happens? I'm assuming we take a monorail back to the parking lot/TTC? How long does that take?

I guess I'm wondering realistically, if our drive from our rental house to the TTC is 15 minutes, how much EXTRA time do we need to allow for getting ourselves out of MK back to the car, and out of the parking lot? Or on the flip side, how much time do we need to allow to get into the parking lot, walk to the TTC and get into MK?

We allow 20 minutes assuming no large lines. If leaving at closing--lines will be insanely longer.

Parking lot to gate, I allow 30 minutes, so since it takes you 15, my MO is to plan for 45 minutes to get through the turnstyle.

We stayed off site last time and allowed an hour because we were 30 minutes from the TTC. We always planned an hour to be inside MK and 45 minutes for the other parks.

(Times allow for some buffer due to some lines or just missing the monorail or ferry and having to wait for the next one. Same deal for the tram.)

I would say we did everything the slowest way possible and it never took more 45 minutes. We had a big double stroller and an umbrella stroller so we walked from the parking lot to TTC and then took the ferry to MK. If we could do it in 45 minutes then so can you.:)

Okay, so basically then allow 45 minutes from the time we walk out of MK gates to being back at our car? Is it quite long (traffic-wise) just getting out of the parking lot back onto the roads?

I'm just trying to figure out, if we want to be back at our house by 6:00, and it's a 15 minute drive from the TTC... what time do we need to be walking out of MK gates by?

It will depend a lot on your timing. Early in the morning it won't be too bad but will ramp up as opening gets closer. Also, if you are very early, you will get a front row spot and not have to wait for parking lot trams. After Wishes it will be a madhouse to leave, but it goes surprisingly quickly (but monorail cars will be jam-packed). Also, note that they are running some odd schedules with the Monorail currently, and the express may not be available (the Resort Loop makes stops at each hotel and the TTC), so keep that in mind.

Edit:
Saw your later posts: It should not take you 45 minutes around 6:00 PM. Probably more like 15. Also, if you got there early and have a good (walkable) parking space it will be faster. The peak times for park exit are after Wishes and at closing.

When are you going? We went at a pretty low crowd time so traffic wasn't much of an issue. I don't think we waited more than a few minutes to pay or to park if at all.

Allow twice as much time as you THINK it will take.
Its better to be far too early than one minute too late.

We're going this summer, end of June/first week of July. Crowd level 8/9.

We had to be at our condo at 7 so my daughter could take an online class. We left at 5pm because we also had to pick up dinner on the way. That was a half hour side stop. So it allows 90 minutes door to door of commute--BUT I did not want her to be late for class.

I would leave the gates no later than 5pm so you don't feel you need to rush.
