Hi Everyone

I have a quick question about refrigerator size. DW and I will be heading to WDW the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and this will be our first trip to a “non-DVC” property. The DVC studios have a half size (dormitory size?) refrigerator, but is this what the “regular” resorts have, or do they have the really small “cube” shaped refrigerators? If it matters, we will be doing a split stay between the GF and the AKL.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Michael (aka Smeagol).

The Coronado has the small cube refrigerator. We used it in September and we put a half gallon of milk, cheese, yogurt and 24 bottles of water if that is helpful.

We had the small cube sized fridge... We too fit waters & 1/2 gallon of milk, some snacks but thats about it.

The refrigerators in the DVC studios are larger than the ones in the deluxe and moderate resorts. The studio refrigerators also have a small freezer section while the others don't have a freezer section.

My experience at any deluxe or mod has been small cube refrigerators. I wish they were the size of the studio ones, because it's easier to put larger bottles of juice or soda in them, but we just buy the small ones and make do. It's really nice if you get the chance to stay in the larger DVC units and have a real refrigerator. It seems like you can't get it full, no matter how much stuff you put in there!

Here'sa photo of the fridge we had in our room at POFQ.

After ours didn't work one night, we found out a little more about the refrigerators in the rooms. They are not actually refrigerators but coolers. They don't have a compressor or the normal cooling that a refrigerator has.

That being said, if you turn the screw to the coldest setting it will freeze up on the back and not work anymore. The maintenence guy said it was a common problem with these. They will stay cool if you keep the setting off the max number and work much better.
