Question about Free Dining & DVC???

Sorry if this is already somewhere else but.....

Our family has only done the Free Dining one time (last year) and we stayed at a Value Resort. Our normal trips are with the entire family and we always stay at DVC (on rented points) and pay for the dining plan.

Question......do they ever offer the Free Dining for DVC guests or is that a special when staying/booking at a Value Resort?

no "free" dining on DVC points stays...not ever.

"free" dining is a promotion to get people to pay full rack rates for their hotel room during lower demand periods. DVC is a discounted prepaid accommodation program. you can't generally combine discounts.

DVC members can pay cash to stay in hotels or villas and participate in free dining...but it's sometimes cheaper to take the room discount rather than the discounted dining.

Free dining is free when you pay disney rack rate for a hotel room and buy i think 2 day tickets. I know it used to be one think it changed.
Dvc is never eligible for free dining unless they forgo the dvc and do the above.
Depending on your family and vacation style value or moderate rack with free dining may be cheaper. Its never a value for us because of our small size and style. Dvc rental or room discount for the moment is better. When our only child becomes a disney adult that wl probably change.

With the latest "free dining" promotion, I think you had to buy a photopass in addition to the rack rate room and 2 days of tickets. By the time you add all of those extras up, free dining isn't so free anymore - you would be better off getting a room only discount and paying OOP for food.
