Question about FPs for shows

So it looks as though if you want to book a FP for a show, the window on your FP time is for 30 to 10 minutes before showtime.

So for example, if showtime is at 5:00, the FP window would be 4:30-4:50- is this right?

And if this is correct, what is the closest adjacent FP window I can book- would I be able to book something 3:30-4:30?

Yes, that is correct. And you should be able to book anything that does not overlap the show's FP window (so yes to 3:30 - 4:30).
