Question about formatting PTR/TR

I can't seem to figure it out--When doing a PTR/TR, how do you get your posts to appear as a seperate post/window, with a link in your original post leading you there? (I hope I worded this correctly!) Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA!

You can get a link to just the post you want by clicking on the number of the post. Copy & paste that into your first post as the link to only bring up the post you need. Does this help?

Well...it kinda helps but not really :-/ I guess I should have asked how you make a post to link to from your original post, that no one can comment on? You know what I mean?

I guess I don't understand you. Sorry. You're going to be able to comment on any post that's made on here, as far as I know.

Unless you mean a link like this where you can't exactly comment on what it opens. You will be able to comment on that post when it's made though. I thought that was how most TRs are done when it comes to chapter links in the first or second post. Am I close? I'd love to be able to help you out, but I guess I don't really know what I'm doing on here either!

Glad we know what we're talking about now! I did understand but did a bad job at explaining. Just open a new tab by clicking on the number of the post you want. (little number in top right corner of your post) Hope it makes more sense this time.

I opened your last post, #5, in a new tab and it was this..

You seem to already know how to post a link by your siggy, so just do the same thing in your post using that link. Highlight whatever you want it to say, click on the little linky thingy up there and paste it in. Here's your post again. You should have it now. LMK how it worked for you!

No problem! I'm happy to be able to help someone else out. I actually wondered how people did that until I started my TR and played around with it a bit. I've kinda wondered why there isn't a sticky or something with some basic help. I guess you and I are the only clueless ones when it comes to posting on the DIS!

Hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only clueless one on here!! I tried to figure it out, but then everything I tried just made me make this face:

I actually started to read your trip report at one point and forgot to subscribe to it, and then I couldn't find it when I went back to read it! Now I know where to get it
