Question about Flying with Areosol

OK friends - have mercy on my old and tired brain.

Can I pack areosol sunscreen in my checked luggage without it exploding? Yes, I am serious - I know the answer is obvious, but I am not sure if the yes is obvious, or the no is obvious

This is truly the spray, not pump. I'd love to throw in a can of Lysol too - but can go for the wipes.

This is one that may vary slightly by airline. In general, however, aerosols of personal care items, which presumably includes sunscreen, are allowed in checked luggage. Aerosols of household items, such as Lysol, are not permitted. Explosions are highly unlikely.

I've packed aerosol hairspray a gazillion times and never had it explode.

You mean the continuous-spray stuff? Yes, I've packed the same one several times with no problem (no, I don't use it nearly as much as I should - I still believe once in the morning works all day )

Yes, this is the type I am talking about. We're going on a cruise in Dec. (after visiting the mouse of course) and I'm going to need lots of sunscreen in the Caribbean. This continuous spray stuff is a life saver with the kids!

I have flown several times with continuous spray sunscreen in my checked baggage. No problems at all. However, I do pack it in zip lock bags, just in case.

I would put it in a plastic bag just in case. I have had the cap come off of my hairspray and have it spray in my suitcase before luckily it was in a plastic bag!

Most Aerosol is not allowed in checked bags or carryon except for limited amounts of toiletries. So hairspray is allowed but lysol is not.. that said I don't think the sunscreen is aerosol and I have packed it in my checked luggage. Definately put it in a ziplock as I had one leak a bit on a return trip.

When I was going to London I asked a friend whom I KNEW would have brought it on her trip to WDW the year before and she said she put it in her checked luggage, so I've done the same since.

No. Lysol actually is considered a household product and is not permitted in checked baggage. Obviously they don't do a great job of preventing people from packing it, however. Personal care items include things you use on your self, such as hairspray, deodorant, perfume or insect repellent.
