Question about flying Victoria to Orlando

Hi everyone

I tried to search for this, but the search wasn't working (again!). Has anyone flown from Victoria BC to Orlando, and had their connection in Seattle? My friend is thinking of doing this on Air Alaska, as she can use her points. My question is about using the Magical Express. Does she clear customs in either Victoria or Seattle? That way she could use the luggage transfer service, but I understand that if she has to clear customs in Orlando then she'll need to claim her bag and go through customs there. I am just wondering if Victoria can pre-clear people like in Toronto, or if her connection needs enough time for her to do that in Seattle.

When we flew from Vancouver to LA with Alaska we did customs in Vancouver. You have to clear customs before you enter the states so it would be in Victoria. If she is flying the same airline from Victoria to Orlando she will be able to check her baggage straight threw and get it in her room after she arrives. ME will take it right from the plane for her if she puts the ME tags on it before she checks them in Victoria.

Just an FYI it doesn't matter if you switch airlines part way, you can still check your bags all the way through. We flew part way with Alaska, and they checked our bags for Southwest transfer for us

I just did a search, and it seems that the Victoria airport does not do US customs. So anyone flying to the US has to clear it when they land. So I guess that changes my question to: Does she clear customs in Seattle, or Orlando?

Hi there. We just did this last month. We flew out of Victoria (with Alaska), but did not do customs there. Once we arrived at Sea-Tac we cleared customs, then picked up our luggage (free luggage carts) and walked it through another area, then dropped it off. Then we actually had to go thru security again before we were free to travel around SeaTac. Hope that helps!
