Question about fixed week

Thank you (and the others) for responding. It's been very helpful. We are looking at a guarantee week that we may use 50% of the time and wanted to make sure that there are no negative effects if we use the points before the GW is booked by DVC. This also sounds like a good way out of a GW without needing to call MS to cancel your GW - just use some of the points beforehand and you won't need to call.

We did similarly! We don’t expect to use our GW all the time, but we wanted it for when we DID want to use it. Ours are at CCV during peak times (weeks 47, 48 and runDisney week 44), so it also means when we do want to use it, I don’t have to worry about the “trying to book a studio at 11 month window” insanity. I am wishing now instead of small contracts (to pass along in the future evenly to our kids) that we had bought GWs there, too. Especially post-2042, I imagine fall bookings over food and wine there in standard studios will be insanely hard to get.
