Hi Everyone! I'm planning a trip from May17-27 from Boston-Orlando. I can't believe how high prices are right now but I'm afraid of them getting even higher!! It's so tricky to know when to buy! I've been trying to use farecast.com but when I type in my information I can never see the picture that tells you the stats! Is any one else having this problem. I've tried for the last week or so but it always comes up with no picture! Thanksssss

I haven't used FareCast, but have had considerable luck using both www.Kayak.com and www.Sidestep.com. Yes prices have gone up from prior years, but judicious tracking of fares should yield something nearly acceptible in time. The days of r-t n-s BOS-MCO for under $200 are over, I fear, what with fuel prices at record highs.

Your dates don't strike as problematic in terms of demand so I don;t see any problem waiting for competitors such as JetBlue and SouthWest to release their fares for those dates. Right now I am getting $282 for non-stop on SideStep (which takes you to striaght to Delta to buy the tix). It could get better and it won't get all that much worse, IMO.

Good Luck!

Thanks so much! I get so nervous and stressed about this stuff!! It's like playing a game...all guessing as to what price may be better! I think I'll wait it out a bit and hopefully things will go down!

I would not stress too much about high ticket prices so far in the future. Just keep checking and you are bound to find a good fare between now and next May, especially from a large market such as Boston. Many lower cost alternatives, such as Jet Blue, will not have fares available for May for many months.

If you are having problems viewing a website. Try using a different browser. I love Firefox, but every so often have to use Explorer to see something properly.

You are really kinda early to be looking for deals for May at this point. This is still spring travel season, and in September there is no reason for an airline to start discounting their inventory at this date. The more people that have to book now, the more expensive seats can be sold. There is a magic window with each flight I am afraid....booking too early and there are less discount seats, but cross over the imaginary "magic line" as you get close to the departure date, and the flight price will go up.

An airline, obviously, has a finite number of seats on each flight...once the flight takes off, you can no longer sell the seat. The airline will have to guage when to release seats at a cheaper price to encourage booking. Good luck.
